Light snow is falling over the area early on this Saturday morning. Snowfall here in Clifton is around 4 inches. Temperatures range from 23 in Clifton down to 15 at High Point and Vernon. Winds are mainly from the north averaging 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 22.

The storm system that gave us snow last night is moving away and light snow will end this morning with little or no additional accumulation. Skies will remain cloudy with continued below normal temperatures. We should have some clearing at night. With cold temperatures tonight there is a risk of some black ice on untreated roads and sidewalks.

Sunday will be milder with light winds as high pressure builds into the area. The high will move offshore at night and rain is likely at night as a frontal system approaches from the west.

Quite mild with showers on Monday but the cold front will move through in the afternoon and evening.

Tuesday will be quite cold and windy as an Arctic high pressure moves into the area.

Wednesday will be slightly milder with less wind.

A weak disturbance will give us a low chance of some light snow or flurries for New Year’s Day followed by sunny but cold weather for Friday.

NEW YEAR’S DAY – JAN 1 – Partly sunny with a chance of light snow or flurries, highs in the low 30s.

FRIDAY – JAN 2 – Sunny, highs near 30.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft is in effect until 4 a.m. Sunday for northeast winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK: A gale watch has been posted effective between 4 p.m. Monday through 6 p.m. on Tuesday. advisories expected to continued Tuesday night through Wednesday.
