Skies are partly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are about 25 degrees warmer than this time yesterday with readings ranging from 35 in Clifton down to 27 at Pequest. Winds are a little brisk out of the southwest. The air quality is good with an index of 31.

Weak high pressure in our area will give us a mild day with highs in the 40s. Winds will be a little brisk. A cold front will come through dry tonight.

Friday will be colder and continued breezy along with mostly sunny skies. An Arctic front will cross the area in the evening followed by much colder air with temperatures falling to the single digits by Saturday morning.

Arctic high pressure will dominate our weather on Saturday and it will be bitterly cold with highs mainly only in the teens.

A winter storm is expected for Sunday as low pressure to our southwest approaches our area. Snow should begin before daybreak and continue heavy at times through Sunday night. Possible accumulations of around a foot is likely.

Lingering snow showers on Monday and it will remain quite cold.

Mainly dry and very cold the rest of next week as Arctic high pressure dominates our weather.

Some models are indicating another snowstorm around February 1st.

SUNDAY – JAN 25 – Snow, heavy at times, highs near 20.

MONDAY – JAN 26 – Mostly cloudy with lingering snow showers, highs in the mid 20s.

TUESDAY – JAN 27 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 20s.

WEDNESDAY – JAN 28 – Partly sunny, highs in the upper 20s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. this afternoon for southwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK: Advisories expected Friday night into the day on Saturday; advisories still likely Saturday night through Monday.
