Skies are mostly clear early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from 35 in Clifton down to 26 at Hackettstown, Pequest and Sandyston. Winds are light from the west. The air quality is good with an index of 46.

During the day today we will be dry and it will be a pleasant day for January with highs in the upper 40s along with light winds. Skies will start off mostly sunny but clouds will increase by the afternoon.

Another potent low pressure area will move into the area tonight giving us heavy rain and strong gusty winds. Rainfall amounts will average between 1-2 inches. Winds may gust to 40 mph at times. This rainfall will cause the Passaic River in Little Falls to remain at major flood stage throughout the weekend. The storm is moving quickly and most of the rain will fall between 10 p.m. tonight into 4 a.m. Saturday morning.

Clearing on Saturday, early highs near 50 then will fall to near 40 by sunset. Winds will continue to be strong with some gusts over 35 mph

Much if not all of next week will be colder than normal but not real frigid Arctic air is expected, but after a mild beginning of the winter this air will feel quite chilly. There is a chance of snow Tuesday into Wednesday but at this time accumulations should be light.

Skies are mainly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and it is mild with temperatures ranging from 39 in Clifton down to 32 at High Point. Winds are mainly from the west-southwest averaging 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 22.

High pressure to our south will give us west-southwest flow of mild air, skies should become mostly sunny after early morning cloudiness.

Friday will be dry during the day but we will have an increase in clouds.

Another potent storm will give us rain moderate to heavy at times mainly from after sunset on Friday to before sunrise Saturday morning. At this point this storm will not be as powerful as the last one but still give us rainfall averaging between 1 and 1 1/2 inch which will continue to cause river flooding. Winds will be strong but probably also not as strong as the last storm.

Clearing on Saturday with falling temperatures by the afternoon as the storm moves away, winds will still gust to near 40 mph.

Mostly sunny and much colder on Sunday and it will still be rather breezy.

A weaker low pressure moving off the coast to our south and east may give us some snow on Monday.

Much of next week will be cold which on average is the coldest week of the winter.

Winds are still a little gusty out of south. The air quality is good with an index of 35. The barometer reading is at a low 29.02″ which is the lowest since February 2020.

The storm that gave us the heavy rain and strong winds is moving to eastern Canada. Skies will continue to clear but we will have westerly winds gusting to 50 mph and a wind advisory continues in effect.. Temperatures will fall from the 50s this morning to the low 40s by sunset. Winds will diminish tonight.

High pressure will give us a sunny and seasonably mild day on Thursday.

Another strong storm is expected to give us more heavy rain and strong winds Friday night into Saturday morning, rainfall amounts will average 1-2″ with higher amounts possible which will cause more flooding.

Clearing and becoming much colder on Sunday with gusty winds.

Another weaker low pressure may move south of the area early next week this time the precipitation should be in the form of snow.

A powerful storm will affect our area this afternoon into Wednesday morning. Rain will begin by early this afternoon possible starting out as a wintery mix well inland. Rain becoming heavy at times at night tapering off to showers by sunrise on Wednesday. Rainfall amounts of 2-3 inches are expected with higher amounts possible which will cause major flooding again across the Passaic river basin. Also the winds will increase to near 50 mph form the south-southeast which will cause temperatures to rise into the 50s. A wind advisory is in effect for the Clifton area but coastal areas may see gusts to 70 mph and a high wind warning is in effect there.

The rain will taper off to showers Wednesday morning and we should see clearing and windy conditions Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday will be dry with seasonably mild temperatures.

Another storm system will give us rain again mainly from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning; at this time rainfall amount will be around 1-2 inches which will cause more flooding.

Sunday looks to be a colder and windy day along with mostly sunny skies.

Another low pressure area may cause some snow next Tuesday.

Yesterday’s storm gave my area off Valley Rd in Clifton 4.0″ of snow while areas in Delawanna received less than an inch.

Today will be another calm before the storm as high pressure will build into our area giving us mostly sunny skies and temperatures a bit above normal.

A very powerful storm will move to the Great Lakes on Tuesday and its associated frontal system moving into our area will give us heavy rain from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. Anticipated rainfall amounts will be between 2-4″ and with the ground saturated major flooding can be expected. Also the winds will be gusty with speeds to 46 mph in Clifton to over 60 mph along our coast which also may cause major coastal flooding.

Clearing on Wednesday it will start off mild with early highs in the mid 50s, dropping off to the low 40s by sunset.

Thursday will be another mostly sunny day with temperatures a little above normal

Another low pressure system will likely give us more rain mainly Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.

Sunday we should see some clearing and it should be breezy and colder.

Looking ahead next week looks cold with the next chance of significant snow will by on the 16th.
