Skies are mostly clear early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 40 degrees in Clifton down to 26 at Walpack. Winds are mainly calm and there is some patchy fog over parts of the area. Interesting that yesterday Walpack had the highest and lowest temperature in New Jersey with a low of 21 and a high of 67.

High pressure just off the coast will give us another mostly sunny and mild day today with light winds and highs in the 60s.

Yesterday at this time it looked like tomorrow would be dry but now a pesky low pressure off the coast and a low in the Great Lakes will cause cloudy skies with rain likely in the afternoon and evening, Rainfall amounts will be around a quarter of an inch.

Warm Thursday and Friday but a frontal system will give us a good chance of showers late Thursday night into Friday.

Somewhat cooler on the weekend, Saturday should be dry but another frontal system will give our area a good chance of showers Sunday into Monday followed by cooler weather early next week.

With light winds and clear skies temperatures at 5 a.m. are again milder over higher elevations and lower in the valleys. Reading here on the hill in Clifton is 37 while 34 at Clifton High School. Inland temperatures have quite a spread with 44 degrees at High Point down to a chilly 23 degrees at Walpack.

Strong high pressure over our area will continue the dry and mild conditions today and on Tuesday along with plenty of sunshine.

Wednesday will be slightly cooler with more clouds and a light onshore wind.

A frontal system will effect the area Thursday night into Friday giving us a chance of showers, and despite mostly cloudy skies it will be milder with highs on Thursday well up into the 60s and into the 70s on Friday.

The weekend will be cooler but with still slightly above normal temperatures. Another frontal system may give us some showers on Sunday.

With clear skies and mainly calm winds there is a rather large spread in temperatures early on this Sunday morning with valleys colder than the higher elevations. Here on the hill in Clifton the 5 a.m. temperature is 38 degrees while down the hill at Clifton High School the reading was 33 degrees. Further inland High Point was at 42 degrees while in the valley at Walpack is a chilly 20 degrees.

The low pressure that gave us the rain yesterday is moving offshore and we should see clearing this morning. It will become mostly sunny, however it will be windy and chilly with highs only in the 40s, and winds gusting to 35 mph will make it feel colder. Winds will diminish rapidly after sunset. Today may be the last day this month that the temperatures will be below normal.

Strong high pressure will give us very pleasant spring weather this weekend with plenty of sunshine both days, light winds and highs in the 50s.

Above normal temperatures are expected next week with the next chance of rain Wednesday night into Thursday.
