Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range from around 40 in Clifton down to near 30 further inland, winds are from the north around 10 mph.

The coastal storm that affected areas to our east will be moving into the Canadian Maritime region today as high pressure builds from the west. The combination will cause strong winds gusting at times to 45 mph, a wind advisory is in effect. Temperatures will be quite mild and the humidity will be quite low. The combination of winds and low humidity will increase the chances of brush fires and a Red Flag Warning is in effect.

Dry weather will continue on Thursday with less wind but it will be a little cooler as high pressure builds closer to our area.

A low pressure system will likely cause rain from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning, temperatures will be quite cool. Also the rain may begin as a mixture of snow well inland.

Milder and dry during the rest of Saturday.

It will be dry most of Sunday but there will be a chance of rain Sunday night with unsettled weather, with near normal temperatures expected for early next week.

Skies are clear and with calm winds temperatures are approaching record lows in some parts of the area, with readings ranging from the upper 20s in Clifton to some upper teens further inland.

Today we will have increasing cloudiness as high pressure moves off the coast and low pressure develops off the Carolina coast and starts moving northeast. It will be cool but much less wind than yesterday.

The coastal low will rapidly develop as it moves northeast well east of our coast, however some light rain may brush the area tonight, rainfall amounts will only be about a tenth of an inch.

Tomorrow will be milder but it will be windy as the ocean storm moves away and high pressure builds from the west.

Thursday should be dry and a bit cooler.

Friday looks to be a cloudy and chilly day with periods of rain as low pressure moves into the area. Some of the rain may be mixed with snow across inland areas.

Milder over the weekend and it will be mostly dry, but there will be a low chance of showers on Saturday and again on Sunday night.

CLIFTON CLIMATE SUMMARY – MARCH 2019.

Temperatures averaged 1.0 degrees below normal. Highest temperature was 76 degrees on the 15th, lowest temperature was a cold 11 degrees on the 7th. Precipitation totaled 3.92 inches which is slightly drier than normal. Snowfall was 14.9 inches most of it falling on the first 4 days of the month.

NOTE: On April 2nd last year we received 6.5 inches of snow.

Skies are mostly clear early on this April Fool’s Day and temperatures are nearly 20 degrees cooler than this time yesterday with readings ranging from the low 30s in Clifton down to the low 20s further inland, winds are gusty out of the northwest.

Today we will see plenty of sunshine but it will be chilly with most highs struggling to hit 50 degrees, winds will be a little gusty which will make it feel cooler. High pressure will be building into the area from the west.

Another mostly sunny and cool day on Tuesday but with less wind. Low pressure off the coast may be close enough to give our area some light rain late at night.

High pressure returns with milder temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday.

A low pressure system will give our area a better chance of rain Friday into early Saturday followed by mainly dry and mild conditions for the weekend.

Our skies are partly cloudy early on this Sunday morning and unlike most morning temperatures they are lower here than inland, with the upper 40s in Clifton ranging to the upper 50s further inland, winds are light southerly. Some areas may smell some smoke from a forest fire in the Pinelands in Burlington county.

Today a cold front will cross the area early this afternoon, showers with this system will be mostly likely between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Temperatures will rise to around 60 this morning before dropping to the upper 40s by sunset.

Dry and cooler weather can be expected tonight through Tuesday, overnight lows tonight and Monday night will drop to around 30, daytime highs will only be in the 40s on Monday and rise a bit to the 50s on Tuesday. High pressure will build in from the west.

Mainly dry weather with milder temperatures Wednesday and Thursday.

The next chance of rain after today’s showers will be from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. Temperatures will be a little above normal for early April.

Today we will have considerable cloudiness but we should stay mild, temperatures will rise well up into the 60s and possibly close to 70, winds will be light from the south.

A cold front will cross the area on Sunday with showers mainly from around daybreak until early in the afternoon. Temperatures in the upper 50s in the morning will drop to the upper 40s by sunset.

Mainly cool and dry weather Monday and Tuesday as high pressure builds into our area.

It now looks like the coastal storm will be well to our south with little effects in our area, still there may be a chance of showers late Tuesday night.

Fair weather should return for the rest of next week with a warming trend.
