A stormy overnight with winds gusting over 40 mph with heavy rain. Temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 37 in Clifton down to 28 at High Point where some freezing rain and sleet are occurring. The barometer is quite low with a pressure of 29.17″

The strong storm is moving across Pennsylvania this morning and will move northward into Canada today. The steady and heavy rain will taper off by sunrise and we will have a cloudy day today with a chance of snow showers this afternoon. It will remain rather windy but not as gusty as we had overnight. Temperatures near 40 this morning will fall to around freezing by sunset. Clearing tonight but winds will still gust to over 30 mph.

Sunny weather returns on Tuesday as high pressure builds over the area, temperatures will be chilly and winds will still gust to over 30 mph at times.

Wednesday will be the mildest day of the week as high pressure moves offshore, high temperatures will rise into the 40s. A cold front will cross the area Thursday morning that may cause some rain or snow showers.

Bitter cold weather Friday into the weekend and we will be tracking a potential storm on the weekend. At the present time most computer models have the storm well offshore but that may change.

Skies are clear early on this Sunday morning and temperatures are frigid with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 6 in Clifton down to -4 at High Point and Sandyston. Winds are light from the northeast. The 6 degree reading at my station is the lowest since January 31, 2019.

Today will see an increase in clouds, and as winds become easterly some milder air from the ocean will cause temperatures to rise to above 30 by noon today as the Arctic high pressure moves quickly offshore.

The storm now located over the southeast states will move to our west by Monday morning. Snow and sleet and freezing rain will develop this evening with possible accumulations of around an inch in the Clifton area and up to 3-5 inches across northwestern section of New Jersey. The precipitation will change to rain by midnight and become heavy at times tapering off to possible rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Winds will become strong from the east gusting to 45 mph in the morning. Rainfall amounts of 1-1 1/2 inches are likely.

Sunshine returns on Tuesday but it will be seasonably cold.

Wednesday will be milder but a cold front will cause a chance of rain and snow showers at night

Quite cold weather is expected Friday through the weekend but at this time it should not be as frigid as the past couple of days.

Arctic high pressure will give our area a very cold day today, winds will slowly diminish and skies will be mostly sunny.

After a very cold start temperatures will moderate on Sunday along with increasing cloudiness.

Very stormy Sunday night into Monday morning as a strong low pressure moves to our west. Snow will begin Sunday night and may accumulate a few inches before changing to rain as warmer air moves in. Strong gusty easterly winds gusting to 45 mph are likely. The rain will taper off to occasional showers in the afternoon with slowly diminishing winds.

Most of the rest of next week will be dry with near seasonable temperatures.

We will be between two systems today, first is a strong low pressure well off the coast and an Arctic cold front approaching from the west. We will have some clouds this morning but should see mostly sunny skies this afternoon. The Arctic front will cross the area toward sunset followed by a brisk northerly flow of much colder air. Low temperature Saturday morning will fall to near 10 degrees.

Saturday will be a mostly sunny but very cold day, winds will diminish slightly from today.

The storm that we have been following will develop over the southeast states and move into our area by Sunday night. We should see an increase in clouds during the day Sunday with snow and sleet developing at night and may accumulate 2-4 inches before changing to rain by sunrise. Rain in the morning should taper off to showers in the afternoon.

Dry weather is expected Tuesday through Thursday with near seasonable temperatures.

Today will be a partly sunny and seasonably mild day as weak high pressure moves into the area. Temperatures will rise into the low 40s and with light winds it will be a rather comfortable January day.

Friday will be mostly cloudy; it will start off mild but an Arctic cold front will pass through late in the day and along with a storm well offshore will cause a brisk northerly flow of much colder air with low by Saturday morning falling to near 10 degrees.

Saturday will be mostly sunny but frigid with highs only reaching to near 20 degrees.

Not as cold on Sunday along with continued mostly sunny skies during the day with an increase in clouds by Sunday evening.

The storm that we have been following now looks like it will move just to our west on Monday. Snow should begin before dawn and then change to rain before noon. Snowfall may accumulate a few inches before the changeover especially to areas to our north and west.
