Skies are cloudy and there is some fog and drizzle in many parts of the area, temperatures range from the low 50s in Clifton down to the upper 40s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

A warm front will move over our area today, some drizzle this morning, then it should remain mostly cloudy, there will be a chance of showers this afternoon and evening. Temperatures are quite tricky depending if the front moves to our north or not, coastal areas may stay in the 60s and inland areas could reach the 80s. The front will then move to our south later this afternoon as a backdoor cold front.

Friday will be a cooler day as we will have an onshore flow and there will be a continued chance of showers, although much of the day will be dry.

Saturday looks to be dry and mild during the day but a stronger disturbance will give us rain Saturday night into Sunday, rainfall amounts with this system will be around one inch. Temperatures will be cooler on Sunday.

Fair and seasonably mild temperatures Monday and Tuesday followed by a chance of showers again Tuesday night into Wednesday.

APRIL 2019 CLIFTON CLIMATE SUMMARY:

April was a mild month with temperatures averaging around 3 degrees above normal Highest temperature was 80 degrees recorded on the 19th and 23rd, the lowest temperature was 28 degrees on the 2nd which also was the last below freezing temperature of the month.

Precipitation was above normal with 5.39″ recorded with an amazing 18 days with measurable precipitation.

Most forecasts for May has the pattern continuing to give us above normal temperatures and precipitation.

Skies are cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range from the low 50s in Clifton down to the mid 40s further inland, winds are light easterly.

High pressure moving offshore and a warm front to our south will give us a chilly onshore flow today, skies will remain cloudy and there will be a chance of light rain or drizzle although most of the time it will dry.

The warm front will approach the area and possibly move through the area on Thursday, showers are possible throughout the day. The temperature forecast is tricky depending if the front moves through or not. Coastal areas may only have highs in the 50s while inland areas may rise into the 80s.

The frontal system will then be in our area Friday through the weekend, there will be a chance of showers each day with the heaviest rain on Friday and again on Sunday.

Dry and mild weather is expected for early next week.

The disturbance that gave us the rain is moving to our east, while high pressure builds from the northwest. Skies will continue to be mostly cloudy today & most of the sunny breaks will be this afternoon, temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher than yesterday.

Wednesday will be a chilly day with plenty of clouds and an onshore wind, there will be a low chance of showers in the afternoon but most of the rain will hold off until Wednesday night.

There will be a chance of showers Thursday through the weekend as a front will be in our area or just to our south and weak disturbances move along the front. Temperatures will be warmer then normal on Thursday and then be near normal Friday through the weekend.

Today will be a dry but cool day but we will have mostly sunny skies this morning followed by increasing cloudiness. High pressure will be moving offshore.

A weak disturbance will give us light rain from around midnight tonight until 6 a.m. tomorrow morning, rainfall amounts will be around 1/4 of an inch.

During the day on Tuesday should stay dry with milder temperatures.

There will be a low chance of showers Tuesday night into Wednesday but most of the time it will stay dry. High temperatures will be cooler on Wednesday.

A better chance of showers Wednesday night through Friday night as a front will be stationary just to our south with disturbances moving along the front, temperatures will be near seasonably levels.

At this point Saturday is expected to stay dry but still another disturbance may give us some rain on Sunday.

After a chilly start Monday we should see some sunshine with slightly milder temperatures in the afternoon.

Another weak disturbance will give us a chance of showers Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will be milder and mainly dry but there will be another chance of showers again at night.
