Nice weather for the last weekend of summer! Watching the track of Jose, possible rain and wind on Tuesday!


SATURDAY  SEPTEMBER 16, 2017  5:50 A.M.

Skies are mostly fair although there is some fog in some inland places, temperatures range from the upper 60s in the Clifton area down to the upper 50s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

High pressure over the northeast will give our area warm temperatures this weekend, highs both days will be in the 80s with moderate humidity.  There is a chance of an isolated shower over inland areas this afternoon but most areas will remain dry.

Hurricane Jose is expected to move north up the coast about 200 miles east of our area, the storm may give us some rain and wind mostly over coastal areas Tuesday into early on Wednesday, even though the track will be offshore there will be heavy surf and possible coastal flooding along with dangerous rip currents.

Improving weather from Wednesday afternoon through Friday, temperatures will be seasonably warm.

SUNDAY – SEP 17 – Partly sunny, high in the low 80s.

MONDAY – SEP 18 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 70s, chance of showers at night.

TUESDAY – SEP 19 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the mid 70s.

WEDNESDAY – SEP 20 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high near 80.

THURSDAY – SEP 21 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 80s.

FRIDAY – SEP 22 – Mostly sunny, high near 80.

 

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – East winds to 6 knots, seas 3 feet.  A small craft advisory has been posted for high seas effective from 6 p.m. this evening until 6 p.m Sunday evening.

OUTLOOK – Possible tropical storm conditions Monday night through Wednesday from Jose.

 

TROPICS:  Hurricane Jose has top winds of 80 MPH and is located in the Western Atlantic, Jose is expected to move northward off the east coast early next week while slowly weakening.

NOTE: –  On this day in 1999 Hurricane Floyd gave the area very heavy rain and serious flooding.

FRIDAY  SEPTEMBER 15, 2017  5:44 A.M.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Friday morning and temperatures range form the mid 60s in the Clifton area down to the upper 50s further inland where there is some patchy fog.

Today we should see a mix of clouds and sunshine today it will be warm and humid, there is a low chance of an afternoon shower and thunderstorm.

The weekend will be warm and still rather humid but we should stay rainfree.

The latest computer models have Tropical Storm Jose coming closer to the coast Monday night through Wednesday depending how close to the coast will determine our weather, at the very least coastal areas will see an increase in waves and tides from the storm.

MARINE FORECAST:  TODAY – South-southeast wind to 7 knots, seas 1 foot.

OUTLOOK – Possible small craft conditions for high seas Saturday and Sunday; advisories likely Monday and Tuesday as Jose comes closer to the coast.

 

TROPICS:  Tropical storm Jose is in the western Atlantic north of Puerto Rico, Jose is expected to intensfy into a hurricane today and then move northward off the East Coast.  Latest computer models have the storm close enough to the east coast to cause at least high seas.

Humid today with a good chance of showers! Warm and continued humid through the weekend!


THURSDAY  SEPTEMBER 14, 2017  5:52 A.M.

Skies are cloudy across the area early on this Thursday morning and it is warmer and more humid than the last several mornings, temperatures range from around 70 in the Clifton area down to the mid 60s further inland, humidity is high and there is some patchy fog in some spots.

Today will be a mostly cloudy day and it will be humid with a good chance of showers as the weak remains of Irma move through the area.

Warm and rather humid conditions Friday through the weekend as high pressure builds over the area, there is a low chance of an afternoon shower Friday and Saturday.

Warmer than normal temperatures with mainly dry conditions most of next week but there is a chance that Hurricane Jose will come close enough to cause high surf for the coastal areas.

TROPICS;  Hurricane Jose is nearly stationary well north of Puerto Rico with top winds of 75 mph, Jose is expected to move northward off the east coast of the U.S., heavy surf is likely along the coast but at this time no heavy rain or wind is anticipated.

WEDNESDAY  SEPTEMBER 13, 2017  5:46 A.M.

The area has partly cloudy skies early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range from the upper 50s in the Clifton area down to the upper 40s inland where there is pockets of fog, winds are mainly calm.

Today we will have a mix of clouds and sun, it will become more humid and there is a low chance of showers this afternoon and evening, temperatures will be near seasonable levels.

The remains of Irma will give us a better chance of showers and a few thunderstorms Thursday and Friday,  it will continued to be humid with near normal temperatures.

At this time the weekend should be mainly dry with seasonably warm temperatures, it still will be on the humid side.

Dry weather with seasonably warm temperatures to continue early next week.

TROPICS:  Hurricane Jose is a minimal hurricane with top winds of 75 mph located in the western Atlantic, Jose is expected to loop around well off the coast, latest computer models do show a closer approach to the east coast later next week.

TUESDAY  SEPTEMBER 12, 2017  5:54 A.M.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures range from the mid 50s in the Clifton area down to the mid 40s in some of the inland valleys, winds are light.

Today will be warmer but we should see some high clouds from the weakening remains of Irma, temperatures should reach the 80s but the humidity will remain comfortable.

Warm conditions with partly sunny skies on Wednesday but humidity should start to rise late in the day.

Showers are possible Thursday and Friday as the weak remains of Irma move into the area.

At this time the weekend looks to be rather nice with warm conditions, humidity will continue to be on the high side with dew points in the 60s.

Hurricane Jose is a category one storm with top winds of 75 mph,  Jose is expected to loop around in the southwest Atlantic but then expected to move northward well off the east coast.
