Cooler today with some light rain! Snow showers possible late tonight followed by dangerous winds on Sunday!


Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and some spots are having light rain, temperatures continue to be mild with readings ranging from the low 50s here in Clifton to the mid 40s further inland, winds are light.

This morning will be cloudy with some light rain that should end by noontime, some breaks in the clouds this afternoon with highs rising only a couple of degrees from the morning lows.

Low pressure along a strong cold front will cross the area today with rain showers changing to snow showers on Sunday morning, accumulations may be up to 2 inches well inland but even a coating in our area.  This system will be followed by a extremely strong northwest wind on Sunday morning with gusts up to 60 mph in fact the GFS model has some gusts reaching near hurricane force, a high wind warning is in effect from midnight tonight till noon on Sunday.  These winds will slowly diminish in the afternoon but it will be cold with highs only in the 40s and with the wind it will feel even colder.

Another disturbance on Monday will give us some  precipitation with snow in the early morning changing to rain in the afternoon as temperatures rise to the 50s.

Cold and windy once again on Tuesday with mostly sunny skies.  Wednesday will be cool and sunny with less wind.

More rain is likely at the end of the week with somewhat milder temperatures.

TONIGHT – Rain showers changing to snow showers by daybreak becoming windy, low in the mid 30s.  A coating of snow is possible.

SUNDAY – Chance of early snow showers then becoming mostly sunny and extremely windy, gusts up to 60 mph possible in the morning, high only in the low 40s.

MONDAY – Light snow likely changing to light rain, high in the low 50s.

TUESDAY – Mostly sunny and windy, high in the low 40s.

THURSDAY – Cloudy with showers likely, high in the upper 50s.

OUTLOOK – Storm warning will be in effect from midnight tonight till noon on Sunday.  Small craft advisories likely Monday and Tuesday with no advisories expected on Wednesday.

 

MARCH 2016  CLIMATE –  March was the second warmest March since I started records 43 years ago, temperatures averaged around 7 degrees above normal, the warmest March was in  2012. Precipitation totaled 1.70″ which was 37% of normal.  Snow was also below normal with a total of 2.2″ falling.  Highest temperature was 80 degrees on the 9th with the lowest reading of 22 recorded on the 3rd.

Very warm today with showers! Cooler on Saturday with some light rain! Snow showers possible on Sunday along with very strong winds!


Skies are cloudy across the area on this Friday morning and it is incredibly warm with most readings in the mid 60s, there are some showers across northwest New Jersey otherwise most places are dry.

Today will be mainly cloudy with showers most likely this afternoon with a chance of a thunderstorm, temperatures will rise into the low 70s on Southwest winds.  A cold front will come through this evening.

Saturday will be cooler with a chance of some light rain.

A stronger cold front will cross the area Saturday night followed by a very strong northwest flow of much colder air, some snow showers may fall Sunday morning with a possible small accumulation in our colder suburbs, winds will be very strong with gusts to 50 mph possible, a high wind watch has been posted for late Saturday night until noon on Sunday.

After a chilly start Monday morning then it will become milder with showers likely in the afternoon.  Another cold front will cross the area Monday night and some of the rain showers may change to snow before ending on Tuesday morning.  Quite windy once again on Tuesday.

It will be very cold Wednesday morning with early morning readings well down into the 20s, temperatures will rise to the upper 40s in the afternoon along with plenty of sunshine and lighter winds.

Another disturbance will give us a chance of more showers on Thursday along with milder temperatures.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are milder than this time yesterday ranging from the low 40s here in Clifton to the mid 30s further inland, there is a light southerly wind.

Today will be warmer but breezy along with plenty of sunshine, highs will reach near 70.

A cold front slowly approaching the area will cause showers to develop tonight mainly after midnight along with a possible thunderstorm, overnight temperatures will be quite mild.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm on Friday,, temperatures will be warm again, the cold front will cross the area Friday evening.

Saturday will be cooler with a chance of rain showers during the day and  possibly some snow showers at night.

Sunday will be unseasonably cool and windy, wind gusts could approach 50 mph especially in the morning.

Chilly weather Monday through Wednesday with rain showers possible on Monday afternoon that may change to snow showers Tuesday morning.

Skies are clear early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are cool ranging from the low 30s here in Clifton to some mid 20s further inland, winds have diminished and are quite light.

Today will be a much more tranquil day after the strong winds of the last couple of days, winds will be light and temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher than on Tuesday.

High pressure will move off the coast and a strong southerly flow will bring warmer air into the area on Thursday with highs approaching the 70 degree mark , there is a chance of showers developing at night.

Friday will be a warm day with showers and possibly a thunderstorm ahead of a cold front that will come through the area Friday night.

Saturday will be a little cooler with plenty of sunshine.

A cold front will cross the area before sunrise on Sunday bringing down unseasonably cool air along with windy conditions.

The unseasonably cool conditions will continue into early next week and there is a chance of rain or even snow showers Monday night into Tuesday.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures range from the low 40s here in Clifton to the mid 30s further inland, winds continue to be quite strong with some gusts to 40 mph.

Today will be on the cool with plenty of sunshine, winds will gust up to 45 mph mainly this morning slowly diminishing this afternoon, a wind advisory continues in effect till noon.

Winds will die down considerably tonight as high pressure builds into the area, early morning lows may be in the 20s in many areas but with plenty of sunshine during the day on Wednesday temperatures will rise into the upper 50s by the afternoon.

Warmer Thursday and Friday and as a frontal system approaches showers are likely mainly Thursday night into the day on Friday.

Cooler and dry on Saturday and another cold front coming through on Saturday night will bring even colder weather with dry conditions for Sunday and Monday.
