Skies are mostly cloudy to cloudy with some pockets of fog early this morning, temperatures are once again above normal ranging from the upper 30s here in Clifton to the low 30s in the colder inland areas, where it is colder there may be black ice on the roads and sidewalks so use caution in those places.

We will continue to see mostly cloudy skies during the day today but temperatures will be mild with highs approaching 50 degrees.  a weak low pressure system will likely give us a few hours of light rain tonight ending before daybreak tomorrow morning,  expect less than a 1/4″ of rainfall.

We will see more sunshine on Thursday with continued mild temperatures and for those brave enough to go to Time’s Square tomorrow night will have rather nice temperatures with readings around 40 degrees when the ball drops.

A period of seasonably cool and dry weather is expected from New Year’s Day through early next week with highs mainly in the low 40s.

We have rain falling in the Clifton area as temperatures have risen to slightly above freezing temperatures, inland the precipitation is in the form of freezing rain and sleet as temperatures still remain below freezing in those areas, be careful driving and walking on untreated areas as some ice may be on those colder surfaces.  Last night we had our first frozen precipitation of the season which was the latest for that to happen in the 43 years of my record keeping.

Warmer air is moving into the area and most of the freezing precipitation will change to all rain this morning, rain will be moderate to heavy at times ending this afternoon, highs will rise and approach the 50 degree mark.

Wednesday will start off dry but a weaker disturbance will likely give us precipitation from late Wednesday till early Thursday morning, temperatures will be mild enough so whatever falls will be in the form of rain throughout the area.

Dry and seasonably cold weather is expected from New Year’s Day through the weekend with highs mostly in the low 40s.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures are colder than they have been ranging from the upper 30s here in Clifton to the low 30s in the colder inland areas, winds are gusty out of the north.  These temperatures are still nearly ten degrees above normal.  Yesterday the temperature fell short of the record as the high in Clifton only reached 59 degrees well short of the upper 60s that we forecasted.

Today we will see increasing cloudiness, temperatures will not rise that much only topping off to around 40 degrees and with a brisk wind it will feel a lot colder than what we are used to even though the temperatures is right around normal for this time of year.  A storm system will be approaching the area from the southwest with precipitation beginning in our area around 9 p.m. as a mixture of rain, sleet and freezing rain that will change to all rain before daybreak, little or no accumulations are expected in the Clifton area but an inch or two of sleet and snow is possible over Northwest New Jersey, the Poconos and the Hudson Valley.

Rain will mainly end around 4 p.m. on Tuesday with milder temperatures expected.

Wednesday will start off dry but another weaker system will likely give us some more precipitation from late in the afternoon into Thursday, this time it will be warm enough so whatever falls will be in the form of rain.

Dry and seasonably cold weather is expected on New Year’s Day into the weekend.

Although it will be colder than the recent historic December warmth there is no sign of frigid temperatures for at least the next two week.s

Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and there is considerable fog and drizzle, temperatures are mild ranging from the mid 40s here in Clifton to the low 40s in some of the colder spots, winds are light easterly.

A warm front will move to our north later this morning, preceding the front we will have some dense fog along with some drizzle, after the front a southwest flow of much milder air will move into the area and temperatures will once again reach record levels despite overcast conditions.  A cold front will cross the area tonight accompanied by some showers and followed by colder air.

Monday we will have mostly sunny skies in the morning with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon, precipitation should move into the area Monday night falling as a mixture of sleet, snow and rain.  In the Clifton area we should see little or no accumulation but inland may see a couple of inches of sleet and snow.

The precipitation changes to all rain on Tuesday.

Dry during the day on Wednesday then a weaker low pressure area will likely give us some light precipitation Wednesday night into Thursday, with milder temperatures the precipitation will be in the form of rain.

Dry on New Year’s Day into the start of the weekend with seasonably cold temperatures as we see signs of more normal winter temperatures after this historic December warmth.

Quite mild again early this Saturday morning as temperatures range from around 50 here in Clifton to the low 40s in the colder inland spots, skies are mainly cloudy with a brisk northerly breeze.

Today we will have cloudy skies with rain developing later this afternoon and continuing into tonight, temperatures will remain nearly steady from this morning’s readings with highs mainly in the low 50s.

A warm front will move to our north early on Sunday morning ending the rain and bringing back more record breaking warmth as temperatures reach the upper 60s, skies will be mostly cloudy. there is a chance of showers late in the day as a cold front approaches the area.

Much cooler on Monday as high pressure builds in from the north and as a low pressure develops to our southwest we should see a return of precipitation at night which will begin as a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain especially inland before changing to all rain on Tuesday.  Inland areas may see some accumulating snow and ice with little or no accumulation expected in the Clifton area.

Another storm may give us some rain Wednesday night into Thursday with temperatures slightly above normal.
