Skies are mostly clear early on this Thursday morning and once again it is quite chilly with temperatures ranging from 15 in Clifton down to 7 at High Point. Winds are calm or light northerly. The air quality is good with an index of 23.

A coastal storm well off the Carolina coast will move further out to sea without giving us any snow, but an upper level low approaching our area will give us a good chance of snow showers later this afternoon and this evening that may give us a dusting of snow. Light winds this morning will increase by this evening.

Friday looks to be a sunny and breezy day with temperatures a bit milder but still below normal as the coastal low intensifies off the New England coast and strong high pressure builds from the center of the country.

The weekend will be dry with moderating temperatures, Saturday will be slightly below normal, with normal temperatures on Sunday as the strong high moves closer to our area.

Finally some above normal temperatures and mainly dry conditions Monday through Wednesday as the high moves off the coast and we will have a southwesterly flow.

Skies are mainly clear early on this Wednesday morning and it is quite chilly with temperatures ranging from 14 in Clifton down to 5 at High Point. Winds are lighter than the last couple of mornings with westerly winds averaging 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 27.

Today will be another cold day with less wind than the last couple of days, but will still gust to near 25 mph at times. We should see an increase in clouds by this afternoon.

The storm that we have been watching the last few days is still expected to be well offshore, but an upper level low may give us some snow showers Thursday afternoon. Temperatures will remain well below normal.

Friday will be a sunny and breezy day as the low pressure moves well to our northeast and high pressure builds from the middle of the country. High temperatures will not be as cold but still below normal.

High pressure will control our weather this weekend into early next week with milder air, temperatures will be near normal on the weekend and be above normal through the beginning of next week. A weak warm front may touch off some rain showers Monday night into Tuesday.

Our area is between a low pressure over the Canadian maritime region and strong high pressure over central Canada, the pressure difference will continue to cause winds to gust to 39 mph. Skies will be mostly sunny. Temperatures should stay below freezing all day.

Wednesday is expected to remain cold with a little less wind than today, we should see an increase in clouds.

The low pressure system that we have been following for Thursday will now move well to our south and east giving us only a low chance of some snow flurries or showers mainly in the afternoon.

Extensive high pressure will give us dry weather Friday through the weekend with a slow moderation in temperatures.

The storm that gave us the heavy rain yesterday has moved just off the Maine coast as Arctic high pressure builds from the west. The pressure gradient between these systems will cause strong winds all day today with possible gusts to 50 mph. Skies will be mostly sunny. A wind advisory is in effect.

Dry but still breezy Tuesday and Wednesday as the low pressure will be slow to move through the Canadian maritime region, temperatures will be cold with lows in the teens and highs staying below freeezing.

The chances of a significant snowstorm have decreased for Thursday as most if not all of the computer models have the storm moving well south and east of our area with only some snow showers here.

Dry and not as cold Friday through the weekend.

A strong and complex low pressure system will affect our area today. Periods of rain heavy at times will occur with even a slight chance of some thunder. The warm front associated with the low pressure system will move through around noon and our temperatures will rise to near 50 degrees. The cold front associated with this system will move through late this afternoon associated with very strong winds gusting at times to near 50 mph which may cause some power outages. Colder and continued windy tonight.

Monday will still be very windy with gusts to 50 mph at times along with continued cold temperatures as we are between the strong low pressure moving off the New England coast and strong high pressure building from the west.

The high pressure will dominate our weather Tuesday and Wednesday with dry and cold conditions and it will still be rather breezy.

Tracking the potential coastal storm that will affect our area on Thursday, still disagreements with possible accumulations with some models hinting that the storm will be too far to our south to cause significant snow, but with 4 days to go before the storm the forecast will probably change.

Dry with seasonably cold temperatures for Friday into Saturday.
