Skies are partly to mostly cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures are chilly but still a little above normal with readings ranging from 27 in Clifton down to 18 at Sandyston. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is moderate with an index of 67.

A powerful storm will affect our area this afternoon into Wednesday morning. Rain will begin by early this afternoon possible starting out as a wintery mix well inland. Rain becoming heavy at times at night tapering off to showers by sunrise on Wednesday. Rainfall amounts of 2-3 inches are expected with higher amounts possible which will cause major flooding again across the Passaic river basin. Also the winds will increase to near 50 mph form the south-southeast which will cause temperatures to rise into the 50s. A wind advisory is in effect for the Clifton area but coastal areas may see gusts to 70 mph and a high wind warning is in effect there.

The rain will taper off to showers Wednesday morning and we should see clearing and windy conditions Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday will be dry with seasonably mild temperatures.

Another storm system will give us rain again mainly from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning; at this time rainfall amount will be around 1-2 inches which will cause more flooding.

Sunday looks to be a colder and windy day along with mostly sunny skies.

Another low pressure area may cause some snow next Tuesday.

Yesterday’s storm gave my area off Valley Rd in Clifton 4.0″ of snow while areas in Delawanna received less than an inch.

Today will be another calm before the storm as high pressure will build into our area giving us mostly sunny skies and temperatures a bit above normal.

A very powerful storm will move to the Great Lakes on Tuesday and its associated frontal system moving into our area will give us heavy rain from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. Anticipated rainfall amounts will be between 2-4″ and with the ground saturated major flooding can be expected. Also the winds will be gusty with speeds to 46 mph in Clifton to over 60 mph along our coast which also may cause major coastal flooding.

Clearing on Wednesday it will start off mild with early highs in the mid 50s, dropping off to the low 40s by sunset.

Thursday will be another mostly sunny day with temperatures a little above normal

Another low pressure system will likely give us more rain mainly Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.

Sunday we should see some clearing and it should be breezy and colder.

Looking ahead next week looks cold with the next chance of significant snow will by on the 16th.

The coastal low is moving further off the coast and the bulk of the precipitation has moved to our north and east but today will be a cloudy day with occasional light snow or rain, additional accumulations will be less than one inch. This storm gave heavy snow inland with the higher elevations of northwest New Jersey received close to a foot. Coastal areas received little accumulations.

Monday will be a quiet day with mostly sunny skies and seasonably mild temperatures.

A powerful storm will be moving to our west on Tuesday and the frontal system attached to the storm will give us heavy rain and strong possibly damaging winds Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. 2-4 inches of rain is possible which would cause major river flooding.

Dry with seasonably mild temperatures Thursday and Friday but still another storm will likely give us more precipitation on Saturday most of it again falling as rain.

Today will start off dry but a coastal storm will be moving along the coast and snow should develop by 4 p.m. then mixing with or changing to rain at night before ending as light snow on Sunday. Winds will be a little brisk out of the northeast tonight. Total accumulation in Clifton will range between 3-6 inches with only an inch or so along coastal areas and up to a foot across the higher elevations of northwest New Jersey.

High pressure will briefly control our weather on Monday giving us dry conditions and seasonably mild temperatures.

A more significant storm is expected to move to the Great Lakes on Tuesday and the associated frontal system will give us heavy rain at night along with strong gusty winds. Rainfall amounts may total 2-4 inches which may again cause major river flooding. The rain will taper off on Wednesday and it will be a mild day with highs in the 50s.

Dry weather Thursday into the day on Friday but another storm system may give us more rain Friday night into Saturday.

The calm before the storm today as high pressure will be over our area giving us sunny skies, light winds and seasonably cold temperatures.

A coastal low pressure storm will give us precipitation from Saturday afternoon, becoming heavy at times at night, before tapering off by Sunday afternoon. The snow/rain line will be near or just east of our area so predicting snowfall amounts will be tricky with mainly rain to our east and mainly snow to our west. My best guess now in Clifton is between 3-6 inches of snow.

Monday will be another quiet day with sunshine, light winds and near seasonable temperatures.

A powerful storm is expected to move to the Great Lakes on Tuesday which will give us rain heavy at times Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday. Also some damaging winds are possible along with river flooding as 2″ of rainfall is expected.

High pressure then builds in for Thursday.
