Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Sunday morning and temperatures are still warm with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 74 in Clifton down to 61 at Walpack. Winds are light from the west and the humidity is still high with dew points in the upper 60s.

No rain fell in our area yesterday as the showers and thunderstorms that we forecasted missed us as drier air at the mid levels of the atmosphere kept us from any precipitation. Although some parts of northwestern New Jersey had some showers and a heavy thunderstorm with hail occurred around the Long Branch area.

Today will start off mostly cloudy as the cold front moves slowly offshore but skies will become mostly sunny. High temperatures will still be warm in the upper 80s to near 90 but the humidity will lower with dew points falling into the 50s.

A very nice 4th of July is expected with plenty of sunshine, warm temperatures and continued low humidity.

The next chance of showers looks to be Tuesday afternoon and evening as another front will be in our area. Temperatures will be a little above normal with higher humidity.

Unsettled weather Wednesday through Friday with a low chance of showers each day and with more cloud cover temperatures will average near or slightly below normal through this period.

Temperatures are quite warm with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 77 in Clifton down to 65 at High Point and Wantage. The humidity is high with dew points around 70 and the wind is light from the southwest.

A cold front moving slowly through the area today and tonight will likely cause showers and thunderstorms mainly this afternoon and evening, some of these storms may be accompanied by strong gusty winds and heavy downpours. Although showers are likely, most of the day will be dry with some sunshine. The humidity will remain high with dew points near 70.

The cold front will move offshore late tonight and high pressure will build in from the west causing much less humid air for both Sunday and on the 4th, temperatures will be seasonably warm with highs mainly in the upper 80s. Dew points both days will be in the comfortable 50s.

Shower chances increase on Tuesday as the front to our south starts moving north which will give us a chance of showers with increasing humidity.

Unsettled weather will continue Wednesday through Friday with the best chance of showers will be on Thursday, temperatures will average near normal.

This June the average temperature was 71.2 degrees which is 1.2 degrees above normal. The highest temperature was 93 degrees on the 25th with the lowest temperature was 52 on the 19th. Precipitation totaled 3.52″ which is slightly below normal, 1.86″ fell on the first 2 days of the month.

High pressure moving off the coast will give our area a southwest flow of very hot air along with higher humidity with dew points rising to the mid 60s. There is a slight chance (20%) of an afternoon or evening shower. Shower chances increase after midnight.

Saturday will be very warm and humid with showers and thunderstorms as a cold front approaches our area. Some of these storms may be accompanied by heavy downpours and strong gusty winds.

It appears now the cold front will sag to our south and Sunday will be a mostly sunny day with lower humidity.

Independence Day will be another mostly sunny day with seasonably warm temperatures and still comfortable humidity.

The front to the south will move closer to our area Tuesday through Thursday with showers possible along with higher humidity. Temperatures will average slightly above normal on Tuesday and then near normal Wednesday and Thursday.

High pressure will be in control of our weather today and on Friday. Today will be a very warm day with highs near 90 but the humidity will stay on the low side with dew points in the 50s.

Friday will again be mostly sunny but it will be hotter with highs in the mid 90s, also the humidity will rise with dew points in the mid 60s. A slow moving cold front may touch off some showers late at night.

Saturday is expected to be a warm and humid day with showers and thunderstorms as the cold front will be in our area. Some storms may be strong to severe in the afternoon and evening.

The front is expected to sag south of our area on Sunday, most of the area will be dry but there will still be a low chance of a shower. Highs will be lower with readings in the low to mid 80s the humidity will still be on the high side with dew points in the 60s.

The front will move further south on Independence Day and we should enjoy mostly sunny skies with quite warm temperatures.

The front may move back to the north closer to our area which will give us a chance of showers Tuesday into Wednesday and it will be quite warm.

High pressure will be in control of our weather today with mostly sunny skies with high temperatures a couple of degrees higher than yesterday with readings mainly in the mid 80s. Humidity will be comfortable with dew points in the 50s.

The high pressure will slowly move off the coast Thursday and Friday with continued mostly sunny skies both days. Highs on Thursday will be near 90 with continued comfortable humidity. Friday will be hot with highs in the mid 90s and humidity will rise with dew points in the 60s.

Saturday looks to be the worst day of the holiday weekend with showers and thunderstorms as a slow moving cold front moves into our area. Some of these storms may be strong especially in the afternoon and evening. With the clouds and precipitation highs will be lower but the humidity will stay high.

It appears now the front will move far enough south to keep Sunday mainly dry with seasonably warm temperatures, there is only a low chance (30%) of a shower.

Dry weather with continued seasonably warm temperatures are likely on Independence Day.

Another cold front may cause some showers on Tuesday.
