After having a few days of below normal temperatures, today will be quite mild with highs approaching 60 as high pressure moves offshore and we will have a southwest flow of warmer air. Skies will be mostly sunny this morning but we should see an increase in clouds this afternoon. There will be a chance of some light showers tonight.

Tuesday will be another mild day but a cold front will cross the area Tuesday night with showers likely in the afternoon and at night.

Fair and cooler weather but still with above normal temperatures Wednesday and Thursday.

Watching for a potential coastal storm on Friday into early Saturday, at the present time models indicate that the storm will form too far offshore to give our area to give us any significant precipitation but there will be a chance of rain during the day on Friday possibly changing to snow Friday night.

CLIFTON’S SUMMARY FOR FEBRUARY 2020 (Records go back to 1973)

February 2020 was 5.6 degrees above normal averaging 37.8 degrees, this was the 7th warmest February since 1973. Highest temperature 62 degrees on the 24th, lowest temperature 10 recorded on the 15th. Precipitation was around normal with 3.03 inches falling. Snowfall was well below average with only 0.2″ falling with a dusting on the early morning of Super Bowl Sunday.

SUMMARY FOR THE WINTER MONTHS DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY:

Winter’s average temperature was 36.6 which was the 5th warmest winter; precipitation was slightly above normal with 12.76 inches recorded. Snowfall was much below average with 12.8 inches recorded of which 7.4 inches fell on December 1st through the 3rd. Only 3.5 inches fell during January and February.

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 35 LOW: 23 PRECIPITATION: TRACE SNOWFALL – TRACE.

High pressure in our area will be moving slowly offshore providing us with mostly sunny skies, high temperatures will be several degrees higher than yesterday with much less wind.

Even milder on Monday and remaining dry as a southwesterly flow dominates from the high offshore.

Mild weather continuing Tuesday and Wednesday with a chance of showers both days, most of the rain will be light as a weak cold front moves through the area.

Dry weather on Thursday as high pressure moves back into our area.

Still tracking a potential coastal storm for Friday but at this time models indicate that the storm will be too far off the coast to give us much if any precipitation.

Colder and windy on Saturday as the low pressure moves well offshore.

Today will be another chilly day as high pressure builds in from the midwest. The day will start off mostly sunny but we should see an increase in clouds by late morning and there is a slight chance of a passing snow flurry, winds will be lighter than the last two days.

After a chilly start, Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs a couple of degrees higher than today as March will come in like a lamb.

Much milder and still dry on Monday as a southwest flow develops around the high that will be moving to our south.

Mild weather will continue Tuesday through Thursday but there will be some showers especially on Wednesday as a slow frontal system moves through our area.

A potential coastal storm may give us a chance of rain or snow on Friday along with cooler temperatures.

The low pressure that gave us the rain early yesterday morning has moved into Eastern Canada but will still give our area gusty westerly winds but wind speeds will be lower than yesterday. High temperatures will be a little below normal.

The weather will be dry this weekend but not as mild as last weekend. Saturday will be the coldest day of the next several days with highs only in the 30s. Sunday will be near normal with highs in the low 40s.

Milder again much of next week, most of Monday will be dry but there will be a good chance of showers Monday night through Wednesday night as a slow moving frontal system moves into our area. Wednesday looks to be the mildest day with highs near 60.

A little cooler with dry weather expected on Thursday.

The strong low pressure that gave us overnight rain is moving into New York State and the rain will end near or slightly after daybreak followed by a brisk westerly flow of drier air. Skies will become mostly sunny by late this morning and winds will gust to near 35 mph. High temperatures in the 40s will fall to the 30s by sunset.

High pressure will then dominate our weather Friday through the weekend with mostly sunny skies and colder than normal temperatures.

Again as has been the case this winter the cold will not last long as we will have milder tempertures Monday through most of this coming week. Shower chances will increase Monday night through at least Wednesday.
