Light rain is falling across most of the area early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures once again are mild with readings ranging from the low 40s in Clifton down to the mid 30s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR FEBRUARY 11TH:

A weak area of low pressure will be moving through the area this morning and offshore by this afternoon, periods of rain through this morning ending by early this afternoon, temperatures will continue to be mild.

High pressure will then build into the area on Wednesday with slightly cooler air but it still will be above normal. Skies will be mostly sunny in the morning but increasing high clouds should overspread the area in the afternoon.

Another somewhat stronger system will affect our area Wednesday night into Thursday. Precipitation should start off as a mixture of snow, sleet and rain Wednesday night but with no accumulation expected. Rain should fall until Thursday afternoon with mild temperatures.

Possibly the coldest air of the season for Friday and Saturday with both days temperatures struggling to reach the freezing mark with low temperatures Saturday morning well down into the teens.

As has been the case this winter the cold air will be short lived with milder temperatures Sunday and Monday along with dry conditions.

THURSDAY – FEB 13 – Rain mainly in the morning, high in the mid 50s.

FRIDAY – FEB 14 – Mostly sunny and much colder, high in the low 30s.

SATURDAY – FEB 15 – Sunny and cold, high near 30.

SUNDAY – FEB 16 – Partly sunny and milder, high in the mid 40s.

Skies are cloudy early on this Monday morning and there is some light rain falling in parts of the area with some light snow further inland, temperatures range from near 40 in Clifton down to the low 30s further inland, winds are light southerly.

A warm front is in the area this morning and will be followed by a cold front passing through tonight. We likely will have periods of light rain today through Tuesday, temperatures will be mild.

Dry and mild on Wednesday as high pressure builds into the area but a low pressure will likely give us heavier rain Wednesday night through Thursday, the rain may begin as snow especially to our north and west.

Much colder air Friday into Saturday with temperaturers Saturday morning may be the lowest of the season so far with lows well down into the teens.

As has been the case much of the winter the cold air will not last long as Sunday it will be milder along with a chance of rain in the afternoon.

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Sunday morning and there are some snow showers in parts of the area. Temperatures range from the upper 20s in Clifton down to the upper teens further inland, winds are light northerly. A dusting of snow has been reported at Wantage. Note that it is much colder to our north with temperatures as low as 20 degrees below zero in parts of the Adirondack mountains.

NOTE: My records go back to 1973 however on this date in 1934 Central Park had the coldest temperature ever recorded there with a reading a chilly 15 degrees below zero.

Today will be a mostly cloudy day with a chance of some snow flurries, highs will be a couple of degrees higher than yesterday.

A weak front will cause rain Monday into Tuesday possibly mixed with snow at the beginning, higher elevations of northwestern New Jersey may pick up a couple of inches Monday morning.

Dry weather with seasonably mild temperatures are expected during the day on Wednesday but another storm may give us some rain or snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Much colder and mainly dry Friday into Saturday.

Skies across the area are mostly clear and temperatures are colder with readings ranging from the upper 20s in Clifton down to the upper teens further inland, winds are a little gusty out of the west-northwest. Even though it is colder than the last several morning it is still a little above normal.

Today’s weather will be much quieter with mostly sunny skies and colder temperatures, winds will still be breezy but not as strong as yesterday. Yesterday we had a record high temperature along with having a barometric pressure of 28.80″ which was the lowest reading since Hurricane Sandy.

After a cool start, Sunday will be partly sunny with temperatures a little higher than today with less wind.

A weak disturbance along a warm front will likely give us some light snow late Sunday night but with milder air moving in it will change the precipitation to rain on Monday.

Tuesday will be mild again with a chance of some light rain.

After a dry day on Wednesday more precipitation is possible Wednesday night into Thursday which again may start off as light snow but change to rain.

Dry weather for Friday with colder temperatures.

A very intense low pressure will move through the area today causing rain mainly this morning. The storm will produce very low barometric pressure with readings probably falling below 29.00″ which has not happened for a few years. Rain from this system will mainly end by noon, rainfall amounts will be less then what was forecasted a couple of days ago with less than 1/4 of an inch. The main story will be the strong gusty winds that may reach 45 mph or more this afternoon. Temperatures this morning will rise into the 50s before dropping off into the 30s by sunset. Record highs are possible for today as the record is only 52 degrees which is the lowest record high for the year. Clearing with diminishing winds and colder temperatures with lows by Saturday morning falling into the 20s.

Saturday will be a sunny but seasonably cold day with winds further diminishing.

Sunday should be partly sunny with highs a couple of degrees higher than Saturday.

Unsettled weather with again lots of clouds most of next week. There will be a chance of rain Monday and Tuesday possible beginning as snow early Monday. Wednesday should be dry but another chance of rain on Thursday, temperatures will again average above normal.
