Strong high pressure over northern New England will give us a partly sunny day today. It will be a little cooler than yesterday, the humidity will start off low with dew points in the 50s but rise to the low 60s by this evening.

A little warmer and more humid on Labor Day as a weak cold front approaches our area, the front will likely cause afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

Dry and warm weather for Tuesday.

Quite warm and humid on Wednesday and there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Cooler and dry Thursday into next weekend, it may get breezy on Friday as Dorian is expected to move well off our coast.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Monday through the day on Wednesday; possible advisories for higher seas and winds as Hurricane Dorian moves off the coast.

TROPICS: Hurricane Dorian is a powerful Category 4 with top winds at 150 MPH, Dorian is located about 70 miles east of Great Abaco Island in the northern Bahamas and 250 miles east of West Palm Beach Florida. Dorian is expected to move through the northern Bahamas and then brush the Florida’s east coast and then head toward the Carolina coast, the storm is then expected to move out to seas well southeast of Long Island. No direct effects of the storm is expected for our area but coastal areas may have high seas along with dangerous rip currents.

A cold front crossed the area early this morning and high pressure will give us a nice day today with near seasonable temperatures and low humidity.

High pressure will give us plenty of sunshine again on Sunday with slightly below normal temperatures.

A weak cold front will cause mostly cloudy skies on Labor Day with a chance of showers and thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon and evening.

Warm and increasingly humid Tuesday and Wednesday, Tuesday should be dry but another front will give our area a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday.

Fair and cooler Thursday and Friday.

TROPICS:

Hurricane Dorian now is a category 4 hurricane with top winds of 140 mph. Dorian is located now about 300 miles east of the northwestern Bahamas. The latest computer models have the storm slow down as it approaches Florida and then stay just off the coast and then move northward possible sparing the state a direct hit. The storm will move up the coast and may hit the Carolinas and then move northeast away from our area. At the present time it looks like the storm will not have any direct influences to our weather except for high surf and dangerous rip currents along our shore late next week.

High pressure over the area will give us a sunny and warm day but still with comfortable humidity, a weak cold front will cross our area this evening and should come through dry with only a slight chance of a shower.

Pleasant weather with near seasonable temperatures Saturday and Sunday as high pressure dominates.

Somewhat warmer on Labor Day and another cold front will cause some showers mainly in the afternoon and evening.

Quite warm Tuesday and Wednesday but a stronger front will give us a chance of showers on Wednesday followed by cooler and dry weather on Thursday.

Hurricane Dorian is north of Puerto Rico with top winds of 85 mph, Dorian is expected to intensify and is expected to hit the Florida east coast as a major hurricane. It is possible some moisture from Dorian will move into our area toward the end of next week.

Tropical Depression Erin has top winds of 35 mph as it moves up our coast well to our east with the only effect will be some increase in swells.

Today will be a cloudy day and it will become more humid as a weak front approaches our area. There is a chance of showers mainly this afternoon and evening.

Dry and warm conditions Thursday and Friday as high pressure build into the area, highs will be in the 80s but with lower humidity.

At the present time the Labor Day weekend looks to be mainly dry except for a low chance of showers Monday night. High temperatures will be slightly below normal with comfortable humidity.

THE TROPICS:

Newly named Tropical Storm Erin is off the North Carolina coast with top winds to 40 mph, Erin is expected to remain well off our coast but may cause some heavy rain across eastern Long Island.

Meanwhile Tropical Storm Dorian has intensified overnight with top winds to 60 mph as it approaches Puerto Rico today. Dorian may become a major hurricane as it moves into the Bahamas and approaches Florida.
