Mild, breezy and mild today! Cooler and windy on Wednesday! Periods of rain and mild during the Christmas weekend!


TUESDAY  DECEMBER 19, 2017  5:56 A.M.

Our area has mostly cloudy skies early on this Tuesday morning and it is quite mild with readings ranging from the mid 40s in the Clifton area ranging down to the low 30s further inland, winds are light.

A southwest flow of mild air will be with us today ahead of a cold front that will cross the area tonight, it will be breezy this afternoon, we should have more clouds than sun.  High temperature is expected to be in the low 50s.

Dry, breezy and colder on Wednesday.  Still chilly on Thursday but with diminishing winds.

Milder on Friday as a warm front approaches the area.

Quite mild on Saturday ahead of a cold front, we may likely see some showers also throughout the day.

Still a chance of showers on Sunday with cooler temperatures but still above normal.

A low pressure system moving up the coast on Christmas Day will give us a good chance of rain, the rain may change briefly to snow inland before ending late at night.

Much colder air will be with us much of next week.

OUTLOOK – A gale watch as been issued effective between 10 p.m. tonight until 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.  No advisories expected Wednesday night through the day on Friday; possible small craft conditions Friday night into Saturday.

MONDAY  DECEMBER 18, 2017  5:48 A.M.

Skies are cloudy early on this Monday morning and there is some scattered mixed precipitation in parts of the area, temperatures range from the low 30s in the Clifton area down to the upper 20s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

A weak warm front is causing overcast skies this morning along with some scattered mixed precipitation.  By this afternoon we may see some sunshine and it will be milder than the last few days with temperatures reaching well up into the 40s.

Dry weather will persist on Tuesday with even milder temperatures with readings in the 50s.

A cold front will come through dry Tuesday night with colder air for Wednesday and Thursday.

Milder again Friday and Saturday ahead of a strong cold front, showers are likely to develop late Friday night and extend into Saturday.

Depending on how fast the front moves through will determine our weather for Sunday and Christmas, the European model has the front staying to our west which would give our area quite mild temperatures, however the American model (GFS) has the front pushing through bringing in colder weather with even some wintery precipitation.

Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and temperatures are milder than the last few morning with readings ranging from the low 30s in the Clifton area down to the low 20s further inland, winds are light.

A weak cold front will move south of our area today, considerable cloudiness should prevail with seasonably cold temperatures.

The weak front will move to our north on Monday, it now appears that no precipitation should fall with the front, high temperatures on Monday should reach the 40s despite mostly cloudy skies.

Mild and dry on Tuesday.

A cold front will cross the area Tuesday night followed by seasonably cold air for Wednesday and Thursday.

A stronger front will approach the area next weekend, there will be a chance of showers both Friday and Saturday along with mild temperatures.

SATURDAY  DECEMBER 16, 2017  5:45 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Saturday morning and it is not quite as frigid as yesterday at this time with temperatures ranging from the low 20s in the Clifton area ranging down to the single digits well inland.  Walpack has fallen to 6 degrees.   Winds are light.

Today we will have a mix of clouds and sun, a weak cold front passing through may cause some light snow showers mainly over inland areas, little or no accumulation is expected.  Temperatures will rise above freezing which will melt some of the snowpack.

Tomorrow should be partly sunny and seasonably cold .  A weak warm front will give us a chance of some light precipitation late Sunday night in the form of either light snow or freezing rain.

Milder Monday and Tuesday and we should remain dry.

Seasonably cold and dry Wednesday and Thursday.,

Milder on Friday with a chance of showers.

FRIDAY  DECEMBER 15, 2017  5:56 A.M.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Friday morning and it is quite cold with temperatures ranging from the upper teens in the Clifton area down to the single digits further inland, the lowest reading at this time is a frigid 2 degrees at Walpack,  winds are mainly calm.

Today will start off partly sunny but remain very cold, as a weak low pressure develops our area will likely see light snow develop around 4 pm, and end around 8 p.m, accumulations should be around an inch but even with these low amounts it could still affect this evening’s commute.

Weak high pressure will be with us this weekend, temperatures will moderate to near normal.  A weak warm front may cause some precipitation late Sunday night into early Monday, with light snow changing to rain.

Milder Monday and Tuesday with mainly dry conditions, high on Tuesday may actually reach the 50 degree mark.

Dry weather with near seasonable temperatures Wednesday and Thursday.
