Rather chilly and windy today! Slightly milder with less wind on Friday! Very mild and dry weather for the weekend!

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 16,  2017  5:55 A.M.

We have mostly cloudy skies early on this Thursday morning and temperatures range from around 30 in the Clifton area to the low 20s further inland, winds are brisk out of the west-northwest.

A storm just off Nova Scotia combined to a high pressure to our east will give us a strong northwest flow of cold air, some gusts may approach 35 mph, considerable cloudiness will prevail most of the day along with a chance of some snow flurries.

Less wind and more sunshine on Friday will help high temperatures to rise a couple of degrees higher than today after a cold night.

Unseasonably mild and dry weather is in store for the weekend, we should see plenty of sunshine both days with high temperatures well up into the 50s and possible above 60 degrees both days.

Dry weather is expected early next week, temperatures will be cooler than the weekend but still well above normal for the third week of February.

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 15, 2017  5:58 A.M.

Skies are partly to mostly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range from around 30 in the Clifton area to near 20 further inland, winds are mainly calm.  My wind indicator did thaw out yesterday around noon and is operating properly now.

Today we will have a mostly cloudy day but it will be mild with temperatures rising to well up into the 40s, a weak cold front will cross the area this afternoon possibly accompanied by a brief shower, winds will be light but pick up tonight after the front goes through.

A strong storm is expected to develop offshore tonight and is expected to give our area high winds on Thursday but not as strong as we experience on Monday, temperatures will be seasonably cold.  Less wind on Friday with continued seasonably cold temperatures as high pressure moves south of the area.

Pleasantly mild conditions are expected for the weekend with plenty of sunshine, highs both days should rise to the 50s.

Continued mild and mostly dry weather early next week.

Much less wind and a little milder today! Mainly dry weather the next several days! Seasonably cold Thursday and Friday, milder over the weekend!

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 14, 2017  5:52 A.M.

We have mostly clear skies early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures are seasonably cold with readings ranging from the mid 20s in the Clifton area to around  20 further inland, winds are light northwesterly.

Much less wind than yesterday’s strong gusty winds that approached 40 mph, unfortunately my wind instrument froze from the freezing rain on Sunday and did not record one of the strongest wind days of the year so far; hopefully  some sunshine and milder temperatures will help the station thaw out today.

Tomorrow will be a mild day and it looks to remain dry as low pressures to our north and south should not phase near our area.

Cold and dry weather Thursday and Friday, Thursday will be windy but not nearly as windy as yesterday.

Mild and dry conditions are expected for the holiday weekend!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Strong winds today! Mainly dry weather this week with seasonably cool temperatures! Milder over the weekend!

MONDAY FEBRUARY 13, 2017  5:59 A.M.

Skies are partly to mostly cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in the Clifton area down to the upper 20s further inland, winds are strong out of the west with gusts to 35 mph, be careful heading out this morning since there may be some black ice from the precipitation we received yesterday.

Today we should see a mix of clouds and sunshine but the story will be the winds which may gust to 50 mph at times until early this afternoon and then slowly diminish by late this afternoon as a very strong storm is now east of Cape Cod.

Tomorrow we will have much lighter winds with partly cloudy skies and seasonably cool temperatures.

The systems that we have been following for the mid-week period are not expected to phase, so no precipitation is expected, temperatures on Wednesday will be a little above normal.

Dry weather will continue Thursday and Friday with slightly below normal temperatures.

Milder over the weekend and we should continue to be dry, highs are expected to be well up into the 40s on Saturday and into the 50s on Sunday.

Have a nice day!

Wintery mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain and rain today! Very strong winds late tonight into Monday!

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 12, 2017  6:12 A.M.

Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and a mixture of freezing rain and sleet has developed as temperatures have fallen just below freezing in the Clifton area to the upper 20s further inland, winds are brisk out of the east.

Today we will have a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow that may accumulate to about an inch before changing to rain this afternoon.  Inland temperatures should stay below freezing most of the day so there will be a higher accumulations of ice and snow in those areas.  A storm system in the Midwest will rapidly intensify and be off the New England coast tonight.

Monday will be dry but with very strong winds of up to 50 mph, a high wind watch is in effect from late tonight into Monday afternoon.

Most of next week will be dry with near seasonable temperatures, there is a slight possibility of storm developing on Wednesday but most models have the storm develop too far to our north and east to cause any significant issues but since the event is a few days away it still bears watching.

Mild weather can be expected by next weekend with highs reaching the 50s by next Sunday.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – FEB 12 – Freezing rain, sleet and snow this morning, rain this afternoon, high in the mid 30s, snow and sleet accumulation of 1 inch possible with a tenth of an inch of ice, winter weather advisory in effect.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with evening sleet and rain with snow showers late tonight, becoming very windy after midnight with gusts to 45 mph, low in the low 30s.

MONDAY – FEB 13 – Partly sunny and very windy, high near 40, possible wind gusts to 50 mph, a high wind watch is in effect.

TUESDAY – FEB 14 – Mostly sunny, high near 40.

WEDNESDAY – FEB 15 – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

THURSDAY – FEB 16 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 30s.

FRIDAY – FEB 17 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 30s.

SATURDAY – FEB 18 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

SUNDAY – FEB 19 – Partly sunny, high in the low 50s.

MARINE FORECAST:  TODAY – East winds to 16 knots, seas 2-3 feet.

OUTLOOK – A storm warning will be in effect from 10 p.m. tonight till 6 p.m. Monday evening; possible small craft conditions Tuesday morning and again Wednesday and Thursday.

Despite the crummy weather just to have a good day!
