Light snow will end this morning! Chilly weekend with a low chance of snow showers Sunday morning! Much warmer next week!


Light snow is falling early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from the upper 20s here in Clifton to around 20 further inland, less than an inch has accumulated so far mainly over colder surfaces, roads here just appear wet.

Snow will end this morning as the low pressure moves offshore and rapidly intensifies but too far east to give us any significant snow, total accumulation will be about an inch in Clifton and a little more to our south and east.  Clearing will take place this afternoon but it will be chilly with highs only in the 30s, a brisk wind will make it feel colder.

The weekend appears to be mainly dry and chilly but a weak disturbance may produce some snow showers Sunday morning.

A warming trend will begin next week, highs on Monday will be in the 50s, with 60s on Tuesday and near 70 on Wednesday.

A cold front will slip down on Wednesday night giving us a chance of showers, it will be a little cooler on Thursday.

TODAY – Snow ending this morning followed by clearing, breezy with highs only in the upper 30s,  snow accumulation around an inch.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear, low in the mid 20s.

SATURDAY – Mostly sunny in the morning, increasing clouds in the afternoon, high in the low 40s.

SUNDAY – Chance of snow showers in the morning then becoming mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

MONDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 50s.

TUESDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the low 60s.

WEDNESDAY – Mostly cloudy and quite mild, high near 70, chance of showers at night.

THURSDAY – Mostly cloudy, high near 60.

 

MARINE FORECAST:  Gale warning in effect till 9 p.m. this evening for northeast winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – Possible small craft advisories for high seas on Saturday, no advisories expected Sunday and Tuesday but possible advisory level conditions on Monday.

 

FEBRUARY 2016 CLIMATE SUMMARY:

Temperatures averaged 2.5 degrees above normal.   Precipitation was above normal with 5.77″ falling.  Snowfall was below normal with 6.0″ accumulating.      Highest temperature was 62 degrees recorded on the 20th and 28th.   The lowest temperature was a frigid -3 on the 14th.

Chilly today with less wind! Some light snow late tonight into Friday morning! Mainly a dry and cool weekend!


Skies are mostly clear early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are cold ranging from the low 20s here in Clifton to some upper teens in the normally cooler inland areas, winds are light.

Today we will see an increase in cloudiness, it will be chilly but with much less wind than yesterday, high temperatures will struggle to reach the 40 degree mark.

A storm will move off the Carolina coast and rapidly deepen but it will remain to far south to give any more than light snow falling from around midnight tonight until around noon on Friday, accumulations will be generally around an inch, winds will be a little brisk in the afternoon.

A mainly dry and seasonably cold weekend is in store for our area, there is only a slight chance of some flurries Saturday night.

A significant warming trend is still anticipated next week with highs possibly reaching the 70 degree mark by the middle of the week, along with the warmth it should remain dry, quite a nice weather week for early March.

Rain ending early this morning becoming windy and much colder! A little snow Thursday night into Friday morning!


It is raining early this Wednesday morning but the rain should end across the area shortly, winds are gusty out of the west and temperatures now range from the upper 40s here in Clifton to the low 40s further inland.

We will have clearing today but it will become much colder with temperatures falling to the mid 30s by this afternoon, winds will be strong with gusts to 40 mph, diminishing this evening.  Clear and cold tonight with temperatures falling to around 20 by daybreak on Thursday.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny and chilly but with less wind.

A storm system will be moving off the Carolina coast on Friday, we will be on the northern fringe of the low pressure with 1-2 inches of snow possible mainly falling from after midnight tomorrow night and end Friday morning.

The weekend will be dry, temperatures will be a little below normal for early March.

Well above normal temperatures next week and we could have our first 70 degree reading Wednesday or Thursday.

Cooler today with rain developing tonight and continuing into Wednesday morning! Unseasonably cold at the end of this week with possible light snow on Friday!


We have partly cloudy skies across the area early on this first day of March and temperatures range from the upper 30s in Clifton to around 30 further inland,  winds are from the northwest around 10 mph.

A weak cold front is crossing the area this morning and today will be cooler than the last couple of days with highs in the upper 40s along with plenty of sunshine.  Still it is much milder than the first day of March last year when we had around 4 inches of new snow and the snowpack was around 18 inches.

A storm system will move into the area tonight, rain should develop after 9 pm, temperatures will be mild overnight rising to near 50 before daybreak on Wednesday.  A cold front will then swing through tomorrow morning ending the rain and bringing down much colder air from Canada, temperatures will drop to the 30s by sunset and down to near 20 by Thursday morning, winds will become gusty.

Cold and dry during the day on Thursday but another low pressure may give us some light snow late Thursday night into Friday.

Dry weather this upcoming weekend with temperatures a few degrees below normal.

Latest computer models continue to indicate much warmer weather for most of next week.

A mild leap day with some brief showers! Rain Tuesday night into Wednesday! Colder at the end of the week with a low chance of some snow!


Skies are mostly clear early on this Monday morning and temperatures range from the low 40s here in Clifton to around 30 in some of the colder inland valleys, winds are light.

Today we will see an increase in clouds as a weak cold front approaches the area, this front should produce some light showers for about an hour or two around noontime, temperatures will once again be mild with highs approaching the 60 degree mark.

March will come in like a lamb tomorrow with mostly sunny skies and slightly cooler temperatures, it will become cloudy at night.

The next storm will affect our area mainly Wednesday morning, rain should start just after midnight and end by the afternoon, it will be mild in the morning but become much cooler late in the day as a cold front associated with the storm moves offshore and colder air moves in.  Rainfall amounts should be less than an inch.

Quite chilly Thursday and Friday and there is a low chance of some light snow on Friday.

Should be mainly dry this upcoming weekend with near seasonable temperatures.

Long range indications show milder than normal weather next week.
