Skies are clear over the area early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures are the coldest since early last March, the reading in Clifton has dropped to 7 degrees with temperatures just below zero in the colder suburbs, winds are still gusty and wind chills values are below zero.

NOTE:  My weather station has stopped reporting, I will probably have to change the outside battery and I will wait till it gets warmer to change it.

Today we will have plenty of sunshine but temperatures should remain below freezing all day but with much less wind.

It will become milder tomorrow after a chilly start and highs should reach the low 40s which is slightly above normal.

Mild and dry weather Thursday and Friday.

Rain will be likely over the weekend as we will be affected by two separate storm systems.   It will be mild so almost all of the precipitation will fall as rain although some of the colder suburbs may have some freezing rain or sleet early Saturday.

Another Arctic airmass will bring back colder weather next week.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures have dropped to the upper 20s here in Clifton to the upper teens in the colder suburbs, winds have become northerly. Some snow flurries have been reported in northwest New Jersey and the Poconos.

Arctic air will be over us today, temperatures will not rise much or at all today with most readings staying in the 20s and with a brisk wind will drop wind chill values to the single digits, skies will be partly to mostly sunny however there still may be some flurries mainly across the Poconos.

Tonight will easily be the coldest night of the season as temperatures drop to the low teens in Clifton to the single digits inland, with much lower wind chill values.

Tuesday will be a mostly sunny day, still very cold but with diminishing winds.

After another quite cold morning on Wednesday temperatures will moderate into the 40s during the day along with plenty of sunshine.

Still dry Thursday and most of Friday with slightly above normal temperatures.

The next chance of precipitation will be over the weekend with two storms one on Saturday and a second storm later on Sunday, at this time it looks like it will be warm enough that any precipitation will fall as rain.

Skies are clear on this early Sunday morning and temperatures range from the upper 20s here in Clifton to around 20 in the colder suburbs, winds are nearly calm.

Today we will have plenty of sunshine with temperatures a couple of degrees milder than on Saturday but it will be rather breezy by this afternoon.

An Arctic cold front will cross the area tonight, low temperatures tonight will be again in the 20s and will mainly remain in the 20s on Monday despite plenty of sunshine.

Tuesday will be bitterly cold with early morning temperatures falling to the low teens in the Clifton area to some single digits inland, skies will remain mostly clear.

Dry weather continues the rest of this work week with moderating temperatures.

A storm will give us our next chance of precipitation on Saturday but it should be warm enough for it to fall as all rain.

Looking further ahead computer models are indicating a possible significant winter storm early next week.

Skies are mostly clear early on this first Saturday of the year and temperatures are the coldest since November with readings ranging from the upper 20s her in Clifton to the low 20s in some of the colder inland areas,  these temperatures are still slightly above normal, winds are light.

We should see plenty of sunshine both today and on Sunday, temperatures will be slightly above normal but it will be on the breezy side.

The coldest air since last March will be covering the area on Monday and Tuesday with highs both days struggling to hit the 30 degree mark with lows well down in the teens especially on Tuesday morning, it should remain on the breezy side but with continued sunny days.

A moderating trend will start on Wednesday and last the rest of the week as temperatures will again be slightly above normal.

A coastal low may develop to give us some rain or snow next weekend with a stronger storm possible early next week.

DECEMBER 2015 CLIMATE –  Amazing December warmth as temperatures were 13.6 degrees above normal for the month breaking the previous record by more than six degrees, this past December was warmer than most Novembers.  Precipitation was slightly above normal with 5.18 ” falling.  Snow and ice was well below normal with .4″ recorded.

Skies are cloudy on the early New Year’s Day morning and temperatures are ranging from the upper 30s here in Clifton to the low 30s in the colder inland areas, winds are light westerly.

Today we will continue to have mostly cloudy skies with temperatures slightly above normal.  Winds will become breezy by this afternoon.

The weekend will be dry with finally more in the way of sunshine, temperatures will continue to average slightly above normal.

The coldest air of the season will move into the area Monday and Tuesday giving us our first below normal air since November, temperatures on Tuesday morning may fall into the low teens.

Dry weather will continue the rest of next week with a moderation of temperatures.

Computer models have been indicating a major storm to affect our area around Jan 12th.
