Quite chilly and windy again with occasional rain and drizzle today! Slowly improving weather on Sunday! Dry and milder next week!

Skies are cloudy early this morning and the rain has tapered off to drizzle, it is quite cool and breezy with temperatures mainly in the low-mid 40s. A little over an inch of rain has fallen since this time yesterday.

Today will continue to be cloudy, chilly and breezy as strong high pressure to our north along with a front just offshore will again give us a rather brisk northeast flow of the very cool air.  We will have periods of rain and drizzle today with much lower rain amounts.  The coast will continue to be pounded by high tides.  Meanwhile Hurricane Joaquin is moving northeast from the Bahamas and will not affect our weather.

The high pressure will build down closer to the area on Sunday and after some morning drizzle or light rain we should see some improving conditions in the afternoon with somewhat milder temperatures.

Dry with milder temperatures next week!

Today we will have cloudy skies but no rain is anticipated, it will be quite chilly with highs only in the 60s and with winds gusting to 25 mph will make it feel cooler.

Rain will develop tomorrow afternoon and continue into Saturday morning, it will still be cool and breezy, around an inch of rain can be expected. Quite cool temperatures with highs only in the 50s.

We may dry out Saturday afternoon but it still will be windy and cool.

The track of Hurricane Joaquin is still uncertain with the main computer models still very wide apart with the GFS moving the hurricane into our area while the European has the storm moving well out to sea.  If the storm does move into our area it would be from late Sunday night into Monday, I think we will have a better consensus of the track by this time tomorrow.

Showers today with cooler temperatures by this evening! Joaquin to threaten the area over the weekend!

It is a warm and humid start to this Wednesday and there are some showers in the area, the main batch of rain has moved to our north after dropping over an inch of rain overnight, temperatures range from the low 70s in Clifton to the upper 60s inland.

Today a cold front will be approaching and moving offshore by this evening, showers with this front may cause an additional 1/4 inch of rain, temperatures will be quite mild preceding the front and much cooler after the front with temperatures falling into the 50s.

Thursday will be a windy and much cooler day with highs only around 60.  There will be a chance of rain during the day but rain will become more likely at night.

We will continue to have rain on Friday and it may become heavy at times as tropical moisture well ahead of Joaquin may set up in the area.

The weekend weather will be dependent on the track of Joaquin, the GFS model has the storm hitting the Virginia coast and then moves slowly north into our area causing heavy rain and wind both Saturday and Sunday while the European model has the storm remaining offshore.  To my friend Tom going to the race on Sunday in Dover, Delaware that the forecast at this point looks more pessimistic.

The remains of Joaquin may still give us rain on Monday.

Have a good day!

Warm and humid with showers developing this afternoon! Heavy rain tonight into Wednesday! Tropical storm Joaquin may affect the area later this week!

It is a warm and muggy early this Tuesday morning, temperatures range from around 70 in Clifton to the mid 60s inland, skies are overcast, there are a few showers around mainly across the Hudson Valley, winds are calm.

Today will be warm and humid with showers developing this afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west, despite considerable cloud cover temperatures will again approach the 80 degree mark and with dew points around 70 it will feel quite sticky.

The cold front will cross the area on Wednesday and only slowly move offshore resulting in heavy rain tonight through Wednesday night, we may pick up 1-2 inches of well needed rain, after the frontal passage it will become much cooler.

Thursday will be a cool and windy day with some lingering showers, highs may not make it out of the 50s.

Tropical storm Joaquin has formed east of the Bahamas and is expected to move up the coast, depending on the track this storm may give us very heavy rain Friday and Saturday.
