Mixed snow and rain on Christmas Eve night!


Increasing clouds today with temperatures around 40 degrees, A weak area of low pressure will be moving through the area tonight giving us rain mixed with snow and a little ice, accumulations should be around 1″, most of the precipitation will fall between 7pm and 5am on Christmas. Christmas Day the sun will reappear and temperatures will be seasonably mild into the low 40s. A stronger system will give us mostly rain from Wednesday afternoon into Thursday, strong winds and coastal flooding possible, inland the storm may start and finish as snow.. Quiet and dry on Friday with still another storm possible Saturday night into Sunday morning that may give us rain or snow…

Tonight – Snow mixed with rain ending before daybreak, low in the low 30s. Accumulation around 1 inch.
Christmas Day – Becoming partly sunny, high in the low 40s.
Wednesday – Increasing cloudiness with rain by 4pm, high near 40. Rain continuing at night.
Thursday – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high near 40.
Friday – Mostly sunny, high near 40.
Saturday and Sunday – Mostly cloudy with a chance or rain and snow, high in the upper 30s.

Marine forecast: Today – Northwest wind becoming southeast tonight around 10 knots, seas 2 feet.
Outlook: Gale or storm warnings may be needed for the storm on Wednesday into Thursday morning, conditions lowering to below advisory levels on Friday.

Partly Sunny and breezy Sunday!


Today will be partly sunny, breezy with temperatures a little higher than yesterday’s. A weak storm will give us some precipitation late Christmas Eve to early Christmas morning, temperatures won’t be that cold so rain will mix with some snow. A stronger storm will affect the area on Wednesday and Thursday and that storm also looks like a mix of rain or snow. A small shift in the track can make a big difference in the forecast. Quiet weather later Thursday into Friday with seasonably cool temperatures.

Outlook: Winds and seas lower to below advisory levels tonight into Monday. May be needed again with the small storm on Tuesday and possible gale warnings Wednesday and Thursday with the stronger storm.

More wind today! A little snow for Christmas morning likely!


Very windy again today with gusts up to 50MPH in some spots, also some snow showers have been occurring this morning and have whitened the ground inland, these showers should end around noon and with a little clearing temperatures will rise to around 40. Quiet weather on Sunday and Monday with diminishing winds. A quick moving disturbance will likely give us some light snow on Christmas morning falling from about midnight to 9am and accumulating about 2 inches or so.. A stronger low on Wednesday into Thursday will give the area mostly snow inland and snow changing to rain along the coast, hard to determine this far out how much snow we will receive but it could be significant especially inland.

Tonight – Partly cloudy, still windy, low in the upper 20s.
Sunday – Mostly sunny with diminishing winds, high in the low 40s.
Monday – Mostly sunny in the morning, increasing clouds at night with light snow after midnight, high near 40.
Christmas Day – Light snow in the morning, mostly cloudy during the day, high near 40.
Wednesday – Cloudy with snow or rain likely, high in the upper 30s.
Thursday – Cloudy with a chance of snow or rain, high in the upper 30s.
Friday – Partly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

Outlook – Winds and seas below advisory levels from Late Sunday through Tuesday but gale warnings may be needed again for the possible coastal storm on Wednesday and Thursday..

Heavy rain and strong winds as winter begins!


Well the world did not end at 6:12am but winter has begun. Very strong winds and heavy rain this morning with gusts in excess of 50MPH are bringing down some tree limbs and power lines. The storm that gave the upper mid-west blizzard conditions will move to our northeast this morning. Colder air behind this storm will cause temperatures to drop this afternoon and there may be some snow showers later this afternoon and evening and again on Saturday. Winds will diminish somewhat but still be strong during the weekend. It now appears that we may see some light snow on Christmas morning as a weak disturbance moves through. A stronger system next Wednesday and Thursday may give the area accumulating snow so stay tuned.. Just a note that South Florida has freeze warnings issued for tonight.

Today – Strong winds and heavy rain till around 9am then cloudy and colder with slowly diminishing winds, chance of rain and or snow showers this afternoon, temperatures falling from the 50s this morning to near 40 by sunset.
Tonight – Mostly cloudy, low around 30.
Saturday – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers in the morning and then rain or snow showers in the afternoon, windy, high in the low 40s.
Sunday – Mostly sunny, high around 40.
Monday – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 40s, chance of light snow at night.
Christmas Day – Mostly cloudy with a chance of light snow in the morning, high in the upper 30s.
Wednesday – Becoming cloudy with a chance or rain or snow, high near 40.

Calm before the storm!


Today we will be dry with sunshine again followed by increasing cloudiness toward sunset with rain developing mainly after 9pm. The storm will have a warm front moving into our area with rising temperatures along with heavy rain and strong winds however at this time conditions do not appear to be bad enough to cause the end of the world at 6:12AM. A cold front associated with this storm will move through around midday with strong winds continuing, the precipitation will be more showery in the afternoon and as colder air moves behind the front some snow showers are possible across the Poconos and Sussex County. Saturday will be windy with chances of rain or snow showers. Dry weather Sunday and most of Christmas Eve but there is a chance of some snow showers at night into very early Christmas Day. The next storm system will move into our area around next Thursday, this storm may be cold enough to give us some accumulating snow..

Outlook – Gale warning from later tonight through Saturday, diminishing to small craft advisories on Sunday.
