Mild Friday after a frosty start!


Temperatures this morning ranged from near 30 in Clifton to the upper teens over parts of Sussex county, today with plenty of sunshine temperatures will rise quickly after sunrise an hit close to 50 degrees by early this afternoon. Saturday we will have increasing clouds it will be a couple of degrees cooler than today. Precipitation chances increase on Sunday but it looks to be just plain rain although it may start as snow or sleet well inland. Rain should continue into Monday. The coastal storm that we have been watching now may be far enough to our east to be any big problem in our area, still a couple of days to watch this storm..

Quiet weather the next three days!


High pressure will be in control of the weather today and Friday with temperatures in the 40s today and near 50 on Friday. A weak storm will move into the area on Sunday that will give us some light precipitation that may start out as snow or sleet as early as late Saturday night, this precipitation should be just light rain that will probably last into Monday morning.
Still keeping an eye out for a potential strong coastal storm late Tuesday into Wednesday, still some spread on the computer models on the track, intensity and speed of this storm but it is trending now closer to the coast which would mean less frozen precipitation but more heavy rain and wind, details will be better in the next couple of days.

Tonight – Mostly clear, low in the low 30s.
Friday – Mostly sunny, high near 50.
Saturday – Mostly sunny during the day, high in the mid-upper 40s. A chance or rain or snow late at night.

Monday – Cloudy with a chance of rain mostly in the morning, high in the mid 40s.
Tuesday – Cloudy with a chance of rain, high in the mid 40s.
Wednesday – Cloudy with a chance or rain or snow, windy, high in the low 40s.

Outlook – Sub-advisory levels through the weekend, small craft advisories or gale warnings may be needed for a potential coastal storm late Tuesday into Wednesday.

Seasonably cool and dry 12-12-12!


Temperatures this morning are about 10-15 degrees cooler than yesterday morning but just about normal for this time of year, here in Clifton it is 31 degrees. Today we will have some filtered sunshine as some high clouds from a low pressure system well offshore will be present most of the day. Thursday into Saturday will be dry with seasonably mild temperatures. The next chance of precipitation will be on Sunday that may start out as a snow or freezing rain across northwest New Jersey. Models are indicating a potential for a coastal storm around next Wednesday, something to keep an eye on.

The sun finally returns today!


A cold front moved to our east shortly after midnight and temperatures dropped from the very mild 50s at midnight to the mid 40s by 1am. Some showers this morning will move offshore and finally we will have clearing and will able to see the sun for the first time since Thursday. The rest of the week we will have mostly sunny days and mostly clear nights with temperatures not bad for mid- December in the mid 40s and even approaching 50 on Friday.
The next chance of precipitation will be late Saturday night into Sunday that may start as some snow or sleet well inland, highs in the 40s. The long range has seasonably cold weather after the 19th with snow chances around the 20th and again around the 23rd but of course that can change.

Wednesday – Sunny, high in the mid 40s.

Cloudy and warm Monday with showers!


It is a foggy start this morning with temperatures in the mild 40s, a warm front will be moving north of us this morning and readings will climb into the 60s despite overcast conditions and some rain. Showers will continue till around midnight as a cold front comes through tonight. The sun will finally appear tomorrow with cooler and drier air that should last most of the week with temperatures at or a bit above normal.
