Welcome to the first day of meteorological spring!

The weather people have this day as the first day of the spring season despite the fact that the Vernal Equinox this year is on March 20th..

This past winter season December 2011 thru February 2012 was the second warmest in Central Park since they started their records in 1869 and February 2012 was the warmest February on record.. The warmest winter was ten years ago 2001-2002.

After yesterdays rain, (snow inland) precipitation will gradually end by noon, highs here will be around 50 degrees but there will be a large spread of temperatures with the high in the low 40s in Sussex County to the low 60s in Cape May county..

Friday will be dry with highs in the upper 40s, it will cloud up towards evening with rain developing around midnight.

A warm front will be moving to our north so Saturday we will have showers with highs near 60 degrees, a cold front will be moving through in the afternoon that may cause a rumble of thunder with some showers.

Sunday will be mostly fair with highs around 50.

Dry Monday and Tuesday and the highs will only be in the low 40s which is actually below normal for this time of year…

Wednesday and beyond we look for a rather impressive warm up with the period from March 7th through the 15th may be mainly in the 50s and 60s…
