Wonderful early spring weather continues through Easter weekend!

Today will continue to have sunny skies with highs a couple of degrees milder than yesterday in the low 60s. Still breezy.

Tonight clear and cool with lows in the 30s..

Easter Sunday’s weather will continue to be great with highs in the low to mid 60s, some gusty winds again especially in the afternoon.

Now it looks like we get one more very nice day on Monday in the 60s but the winds will continue to be on the stronger side gusting to 30 MPH..

The rest of the week looks cooler with highs in the 50s with a low chance of showers mainly Tuesday through Thursday.. A stationary low pressure near Nova Scotia will continue to keep the winds on the higher side.

Looking further ahead the computer models are hinting at another warming trend for next weekend.

Perfect weather for Easter Weekend!

The weather for the upcoming holiday weekend will be very similar as yesterday with plenty of sunshine, breezy and temperatures near 60 degrees today and Saturday and in the low to mid 60s on Easter.. Nights will be chilly with lows in the 30s..

Next week’s forecast is for more clouds and chance of showers, highs on Monday will be near 60 degrees but most of the week the highs will not get out of the 50s..

Today is the 30th anniversary of the April blizzard in 1982. This is what I wrote in my daily summary for that date. :

HIGH 37 AT 0001HRS LOW 18 AT 2200HRS.

FIRST APRIL BLIZZARD EVER HIT OUR AREA WITH 12″ OF SNOW WHICH WAS THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL SINCE 1979 AND FIRST ACCUMULATING APRIL SNOW SINCE 1974.. IN CENTRAL PARK THE SNOWFALL WAS .6″ SHORT OF THE HEAVIEST APRIL SNOW EVER. LOW PRESSURE IN THE MIDWEST MOVED TO PENNSYLVANIA AS A SECONDARY FORMS OFF THE MARYLAND COAST AND MOVES NORTHEAST WHILE INTENSIFYING. SNOW DEVELOPING AROUND 0200HRS BECOMING HEAVY AT TIMES TAPERING OFF AROUND 1500 AND ENDING BY 1700. FIRST TIME I EVER REMEMBER SCHOOLS CLOSED IN APRIL AND THE FIRST TIME IN MY MEMORY THE YANKEES GETTING SNOWED OUT. THERE WERE ALSO CLASPS OF THUNDER ONCE AROUND 0700 AND AGAIN AROUND 1000.. VERY STRONG NORTHEAST WINDS IN COMBINATION WITH SNOW CAUSED LOW VISIBILITIES AND SNOW DRIFTS. NEWARK AIRPORT WIND GUST TO 55MPH. RECORD COLD TEMPERATURES AT NIGHT WITH DRIFTING SNOW. 21 DEGREES IN CENTRAL PARK RECORD LOW FOR THE DATE AND IT WAS THE COLDEST READING SO LATE IN THE SEASON. 18 DEGREES HERE WAS 6 DEGREES COLDER THAN ANY APRIL TEMPERATURE SINCE MY RECORDS BEGAN. WIND CHILL ABOUT -20 DEGREES. THIS UNUSUAL APRIL WEATHER FOLLOWS TWO BORING MONTHS IN FEBRUARY AND MARCH, HARD TO BELIEVE THIS BLIZZARD CAN OCCUR SO LATE IN THE SEASON..

Pleasant weather through Easter Sunday!

Today will be cooler but still very nice, breezy in the morning with diminishing winds in the afternoon, highs in the upper 50s, about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday.

Friday through Sunday will continue quite pleasant with plenty of sun and for a change normal temperatures for this time of year with highs near 60 rising to the low 60s by Easter. Lows mostly in the upper 30s..

Next week will not be as good as this past week with lots of clouds and showers with daytime highs mainly in the 50s… So I am glad I have this week off!

Pleasant spring weather to continue! Red Flag Warning!

Today will become mostly sunny and despite a cold front coming through temperatures will still rise to near 70 today. Winds will gust near 25MPH and with very dry air there is a threat of brush fires, because of this the National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for our area.

Tonight will be cooler with lows by morning falling into the 30s..

Thursday looks sunny with highs about 10 degrees cooler, near 60 degrees..

Friday through Sunday the dry and pleasant conditions will continue with temps in the 50s on Friday and into the 60s by Sunday.

Long range forecast for next week, cooler and with a better chance or clouds and showers..
