A little more snow on the way for tonight!


This morning we are starting out seasonably cold with most temperatures in the upper 20s, winds are light and skies are clear.. Today we will have sunshine followed by increasing clouds in the afternoon with highs mostly in the mid 40s. Snow will develop this evening possibly as a mix of rain, the heaviest snow will be from around 8PM to 2AM, accumulations will be generally 1-3″ with the highest amounts to our south and east. Clearing on Thursday with highs again in the 40s. Mild on Friday ahead of a cold front, readings may approach 50 degrees. Colder on the weekend, present indications show that a low pressure will form well out to sea and spare us any additional snow, Sunday will be particularly cold with a gusty wind and temperatures rising only to the freezing mark. Slow moderation of temperatures along with dry conditions early next week.

The forecast: Today – Increasing clouds with snow developing by sunset, possibly mixed with rain, high in the mid 40s.
Tonight – Snow ending around 3am, accumulations averaging around 2 inches. low near 30.
Thursday – Becoming mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.
Friday – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high in the upper 40s.
Saturday – Partly sunny, high near 40.
Sunday – Partly sunny, windy and cold, high in the low 30s.
Monday – Sunny, high in the upper 30s.
Tuesday – Mostly cloudy, high in the mid 40s..

Marine Forecast: Small craft advisory issued from 5PM today till 1PM on Thursday, winds east becoming north overnight gusting to 25 knots, seas up to 6 feet.
Outlook – Small craft advisory likely Sunday into Monday otherwise conditions below advisory levels.

Dry and windy Tuesday; light snow for Wednesday night!


It is starting out mild this morning with temperatures near 40 degrees, drier air is moving in sweeping the fog and drizzle offshore, today’s highs in the 40s will feel much cooler as winds are expected to gust past 30MPH. Increasing cloudiness on Wednesday with some light snow at night, most of this snow will be light with about 2-4″ falling with the higher amounts to our east and south. Thursday and Friday will be dry with mild temperatures. Colder on the weekend and we are watching a potential snow situation on Sunday, latest computer models have the system staying offshore only giving us some snow showers however it bears watching this system since if it stays closer to the coast we may be in store for substantial snowfall. One thing is for certain it will be cold and windy into Monday of next week.

Freezing rain right now will change to plain rain by mid-morning!


Rain has begun and with the temperatures just below freezing this precipitation is freezing on colder surfaces, with the temperatures rising above freezing by around 9AM most of what is falling now will change to plain rain and continue into this evening, but in the meantime be careful walking or driving on untreated areas.  Later on today the temperatures will rise into the 40s.  Drier air will move in on Tuesday and readings will reach the 40s again despite a rather strong wind.  A disturbance moving to the south of us will give us a chance of rain or snow Wednesday afternoon and evening. Dry and rather mild most of Thursday and Friday, then a potential bigger storm on the weekend may give us rain or snow.

The forecast: Today – Freezing rain changing to all rain by 9am, temperatures rising into the 40s.

Tonight – Rain ending by 7PM then slow clearing later at night, low in the lower 30s.

Wednesday – Cloudy with a chance or rain by the afternoon, high in the low 40s, rain possible changing to snow Wednesday night before ending, only minor accumulations possible.

Thursday – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Friday – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Saturday – Cloudy with a chance of rain or snow, high in the upper 30s.

Sunday – Cloudy with a chance of snow, high in the mid 30s.

Sunny Sunday followed by precipitation on Monday!


It is a frigid morning as temperatures have fallen due to light winds, clear skies and a fresh snow pack, as of 6am, it is 13 degrees in Clifton but down to zero in the colder spots of Sussex County. Today withe plenty of sunshine temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 30s. Increasing cloudiness tonight with precipitation beginning before daybreak falling as a mix of freezing rain and sleet before changing to all rain around 9AM, temperatures on Monday will moderate into the low-mid 40s with the rain ending by evening. Dry Tuesday with mild temperatures. Another low pressure is forecast to move well south of our area on Wednesday night and Thursday so most places will stay dry. Dry Friday but watching another possible low pressure developing off the coast next weekend.

The nor-easter is moving away after dumping about a foot of snow!


As of 7am snow is tapering off and should end around 9am, 12 inches fell in the Clifton area but much more over parts of Long Island and Southern New England where over 30 inches were reported. We will have clearing today but it will be quite windy, highs will be near the freezing mark. Tonight will be frigid with lows around 12 degrees. On Sunday plenty of sunshine will raise temperatures into the mid 30s. A warm front will be coming through on Monday with precipitation falling mostly as rain but may start as a mix of snow and freezing rain early Monday morning, temperatures will rise into the 40s on Monday. Tuesday will be dry and mild with highs still in the 40s. Another low pressure is forecast to move offshore on Wednesday night and Thursday giving us only a slight chance of rain or snow. Sunny weather returns on Friday with mild temperatures in the 40s.

Outlook – Seas and winds lowering to below advisory levels on Sunday but small craft advisories may be needed on Monday and again Wednesday night into Thursday.
