The leprechaun will need his heavy coat today!


Unlike the last three St. Patrick’s Day when temperatures were in the 60s, today we will have a hard time reaching the 40 degree mark despite plenty of sunshine.
On Monday a storm system approaching from the southwest will give us increasing cloudiness with more snow developing late in the day changing to a mix of freezing rain, snow and sleet later in the evening and to all rain by daybreak on Tuesday, about a coating to an inch of frozen precipitation in the Clifton area but inland northwest New Jersey will likely have a higher amount of snow and ice..
The rain will end around noon on Tuesday followed by clearing.
From Wednesday into early next weekend will be dry but with temperatures well below normal.
And to make matters worse for Spring lovers the long range computer models are showing a potential snowstorm for early next week, of course that can and probably will change as we move forward.

The forecast: Today – Mostly sunny, high near 40.
Tonight – Mostly clear, low in the mid 20s.
Monday – Increasing cloudiness with snow developing mainly after 5PM changing to a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain in the evening and to all rain by daybreak on Tuesday, a coating to an inch possible of frozen precipitation, high in the upper 30s.
Tuesday – Rain ending by around 1PM, high in the upper 40s.
Wednesday – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.
Thursday – Mostly sunny, high near 40.
Friday – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.
Saturday – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

Marine forecast: Today – North-northwest wind to 14 knots, seas up to 2 feet.
Outlook – Small craft advisory issued for Monday, gale warnings possible for Tuesday and Wednesday with small craft advisory still needed for Thursday!

Winter weather hanging on!


Clouds will increase this morning and we have a good chance of light snow this afternoon into tonight but with temperatures just above freezing there should be no accumulation.
Sunday will be mostly sunny but temperatures will be quite cool.
Another storm system is set to affect our area Monday afternoon through Tuesday, in our area a mix of rain and snow is likely with no accumulation in our area, however inland especially the higher elevations of northwest New Jersey and the Poconos may see up to 4 inches of snow before changing to rain. Rain will likely continue most of Tuesday with clearing at night.
Look for dry conditions Wednesday through Friday of next week but despite plenty of sunshine temperatures will continue to be well below normal, in fact chilly weather is likely to continue the rest of March a far cry from last March when we had many days in the 60s and 70s.

Tonight – Gradual clearing, low in the mid-upper 20s.
Sunday – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.
Monday – Cloudy with rain and snow by the afternoon, high around 40, precipitation changing to all rain at night..
Tuesday – Rain during the day ending in the afternoon, high in the upper 40s.
Wednesday – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.
Thursday – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.
Friday – Sunny, high in the mid 40s.

Marine Forecast: Today – North wind less than 10 knots, seas 3 feet subsiding in the afternoon
Outlook – Sub advisory conditions on Sunday but small craft advisories likely will be needed from Monday evening through Wednesday.

A little milder but windy for the Ides of March!


We start off this morning with mostly clear skies and with temperatures only in the upper 20s. As the day goes on there will be increasing clouds and it will be milder but the winds will start picking up once again. A cold front will be moving through our area tonight with only a chance of a sprinkle.
On Saturday there is a chance of very light precipitation that may start off as snow and then change of rain, there is a chance however that most areas will stay dry.
On St. Patrick’s Day it will be dry but chilly.
Another storm system will affect our area with heavier precipitation Monday into Tuesday, this precipitation will start off as snow Monday morning and change to rain at night and continue into Tuesday, there may be some accumulation Monday before the change over especially inland.
Clearing weather for Wednesday and Thursday but temperatures will continue below normal for this time of year.

Tonight – Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of flurries or sprinkles, low near 30.
Saturday – Chance of very light snow changing to rain in the afternoon, high in the low 40s.

Monday – Mostly cloudy with snow changing to rain likely, high only around 40.
Tuesday – Rain likely, high in the upper 40s.
Wednesday – Partly sunny, windy and cool, high in the low 40s.
Thursday – Partly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

Marine Forecast: Small craft advisory issued till midnight, west winds gusting to 30 knots, seas up to 5 feet.
Outlook – Below advisory level conditions for the weekend but will likely be needed for the storm system on Monday and Tuesday.

A chilly and breezy Thursday!


Temperatures this morning have fallen into the upper 20s and they will only rise to the upper 30s and with a brisk wind it will feel much cooler than the last few days, also we may have a couple of flurries during the day.

Winds will relax on Friday and temperatures will rise a few degrees, the day will start off sunny but increasing clouds as the day wears on.
There is a chance of a little light rain mixed with snow Saturday morning that will change to plain rain, however this precipitation will be very light with less than a tenth of an inch expected.
St. Patrick’s Day will be dry but chilly.
A storm system will move into our area on Monday and last into Tuesday giving our area a good chance of soaking rain that may start out as snow especially inland.
Clearing on Wednesday but the cooler than normal weather will continue.

The forecast: Today – Partly sunny, breezy and chilly with a chance of flurries, highs only in the upper 30s.
Tonight – Partly cloudy and cold, low in the mid 20s.
Friday – A mostly sunny start with clouds increasing throughout the day, not as cool with highs in the upper 40s.
Saturday – A chance of rain or snow mixed in the morning changing to plain rain before ending in the afternoon, high in the mid 40s.
St. Patrick’s Day – Partly sunny, high in the mid 40s.
Monday – A chance of rain possibly beginning as snow in the morning, high in the low 40s.
Tuesday – A chance of rain, high in the mid 40s.
Wednesday – Mostly sunny, highs only in the low 40s.

Marine forecast: Gale warnings through this evening, west winds gusting to 35 knots, seas up to 6 feet.
Outlook – Conditions will be below advisory levels on Friday morning but may approach advisory levels late Friday with a cold frontal passage. Sub-advisory levels for the weekend but advisories may again be needed for the storm system on Monday and Tuesday.

Pleasantly mild Wednesday followed by a colder Thursday!


After having 1.23″ of rain in Clifton yesterday, we will have plenty of sunshine today with mild temperatures.
Another cold front will move through tonight and we can not rule out a passing sprinkle. This front will be followed by much cooler weather for Thursday and with a brisk wind it will feel quite chilly.
On Friday winds will relax and with mostly sunny skies temperatures will moderate.
A weak disturbance will give us a chance of light rain mixed with snow Saturday morning.
St. Patrick’s Day still looks cool and dry but skies will cloud up later in the day.
Early next week still is unsettled with a chance of mainly light rain or snow.

Tonight – Mostly cloudy, low around 30.
