Skies are mostly clear early on this Saturday morning and we have the coldest readings of the season so far with temperatures ranging from the mid 20s here in Clifton to some mid teen further inland, winds are mostly light.

High pressure will give us mainly dry conditions today but we should see some increase of clouds this afternoon along with some possible flurries falling from late this afternoon into this evening, temperatures will only be in the 30s but the winds will be lower than what we experienced on Friday.

After a cold and clear night we should see clouds increase again on Sunday as low pressure moves to the Great Lakes and a warm front approaches from the south, snow should develop by evening and continue into early Monday, the precipitation should mix with sleet and freezing rain before changing to all rain as the warm front moves to our north, accumulations of 1-3 inches is expected with up to 4-6 inches further inland.  The rain should end in the afternoon.

Tuesday will be a dry and seasonably cool day.

A strong cold front will come through the area on Wednesday giving us a chance of rain or snow.

Cold Arctic air will follow the front with temperatures Thursday and Friday only rising to the freezing mark with overnight lows in the teens in the Clifton area and dropping to the single digits inland.

 

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Partly sunny with a chance of flurries after 4 p.m., high in the upper 30s.

TONIGHT – Scattered flurries before 9 p.m. then partly cloudy, low in the mid 20s.

SUNDAY – Increasing cloudiness with snow developing in the afternoon, high in the upper 30s.

MONDAY – Snow, sleet, freezing rain in the early morning, changing to rain by mid-morning, rain ending in the afternoon, high in the mid 40s, accumulations 1-3 inches.

TUESDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.

WEDNESDAY – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain or snow in the afternoon and evening, high near 40.

THURSDAY – Mostly sunny, windy and very cold, high near 30.

FRIDAY – Mostly sunny and cold, high in the low 30s.

 

MARINE FORECAST:  Small craft advisory in effect till 4 p.m. this afternoon for westerly winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 2-4 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected on Sunday, advisories likely on Monday with no advisories for Tuesday and Wednesday.
