Warm and very humid today with showers and thunderstorms likely! Very warm and dry weather for the weekend!

FRIDAY  AUGUST 18, 2017  6:00 A.M.

It is very muggy this early morning with mainly cloudy skies, there are some showers now over parts of northwest New Jersey and the Poconos. Temperatures range from the mid 70s in the Clifton area down to the upper 60s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

The area of showers will move into our area this morning producing some heavy rain in spots. Then there may be a break in the rain later this morning into the afternoon with some possible sunshine, but as a cold front approaches the area more showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop later this afternoon and extend into this evening.  Some of the storms may be accompanied by strong gusty winds and heavy rain, some parts of the area have a flash flood watch in effect.

The front will clear the area Saturday morning as high pressure moves in.  It will be very warm both Saturday into Sunday with plenty of sunshine but it will be much less humid than today.

Mostly clear weather is still anticipated for Monday’s eclipse.

A frontal system may touch off showers and thunderstorms Tuesday evening into Wednesday.

Fair weather is expected at the end of next week with cooler and less humid conditions.
