Coastal storm to give us heavy snow today into this evening! Mainly dry and chilly Thursday through the weekend!

Good morning everyone and happy first full day of Spring!    Skies are cloudy early this morning and there are some flurries falling in the Clifton area with heavier snow just to our south and west, temperatures range from the mid 30s in Clifton to the upper 20s further inland, winds are gusty out of the northeast.

The coastal storm is now developing off the Delaware coast and will be moving slowly northeast.   Snow from this system will become heavy by noontime and continue into tonight before tapering off.  Snowfall amounts of 8-12 inches are expected with over 12 inches possible in some heavier bands of snow where snowfall amounts may be 1-2 inches per hour.  Winds will continue to be gusty out of the northeast and with the heavy wet snow some power outages are likely.

Dry and chilly weather is expected Thursday through the weekend.  The disturbance that we have been following for Sunday looks to be too far south of us to affect our weather.

Finally a warming trend will start on Tuesday as temperatures reach to near normal for late March.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – MAR 21 – Snow becoming heavy at times this afternoon, high in the low 30s,  winds gusts to 30 mph expected.

TONIGHT – Snow tapering off by midnight, low around 30.  Total accumulations 8-12 inches with higher amounts possible in heavier snowbands.

FRIDAY – MAR 23 – Partly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

SATURDAY – MAR 24 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

SUNDAY – MAR 25 – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

MONDAY – MAR 26 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

TUESDAY – MAR 27 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 50s.

MARINE FORECAST:  A storm warning is in effect for northeast winds gusting to 50 knots, seas 8-12 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories expected Thursday through Sunday.

Have a nice day and stay safe!

Dry and chilly today! Winter storm warning in effect from late tonight through Wednesday!

Good morning everyone!   Our area has mostly cloudy skies early this morning and temperatures are chilly once again ranging from the upper 20s in the Clifton area down to the upper teens well inland, winds are from the northeast.

Today will be a dry day with quite chilly weather as spring arrives at 12:15 p.m.

Low pressure is expected to develop off the coast and move northeast,  a mixture of light rain, sleet and snow will develop late tonight and change to all snow by tomorrow morning.  Snow will be heavy at times with even a chance of thundersnow, I expect 8-12 inches of snow with higher amounts possible in some of the heavier bands of snow.  The snow will taper off at night.

Mainly dry weather with below normal temperatures Thursday through Saturday.

Another low pressure may affect our area on Sunday but the latest model runs have the storm well south and east of our area but that may change.

Dry and chilly weather early next week.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – MAR 20 – Increasing cloudiness, high in the upper 30s.

TONIGHT – Cloudy with a chance of rain, sleet and snow late tonight, low in the upper 30s.

OUTLOOK – Gales continuing Wednesday night; small craft conditions during the day on Thursday; no advisories expected Thursday night into Saturday.

Happy Spring!

Dry and cool today! Coastal storms likely to give us snow late Tuesday into Wednesday!

Good morning everyone!   Skies are mostly clear early this morning and temperatures range from around 30 in the Clifton area to the upper teens further inland, winds are mainly calm.

High pressure building down from the Great Lakes will give us a mostly sunny day, temperatures will continue to be cool with most readings in the mid 40s.  Average high for this time of March is in the low 50s.

A complex storm system will affect our area from late tomorrow into Wednesday.  There are two low pressure areas, one which would give us some light snow with little or no accumulation Tuesday night but the second coastal storm is expected to be stronger.  Questions are how close to the coast that system comes to our area, the models have been flip flopping with the expected outcome with the GFS having the storm well offshore with little impacts here while the latest European model having the storm close to the coast which would cause heavy snow and strong winds into the area.  So stay tuned.

Dry weather Thursday through Saturday with continued below normal temperatures.

Still another system may give us some rain or snow on Sunday.

THE FORECAST:

SATURDAY – MAR 24 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

SUNDAY – MAR 25 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain or snow, high in the low 40s.

MARINE FORECAST:  TODAY – Northerly winds to 10 knots, seas 1 foot.

OUTLOOK – A gale watch has been posted effective from 6 p.m Tuesday evening until 6 p.m. Wednesday evening; small craft advisories likely Wednesday night into Thursday; no advisories expected for Friday.

Have a nice day!

Dry and cool weather today and on Monday! Possible coastal storms Tuesday and Wednesday!

Good morning everyone!   Skies are mostly clear early this morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton down to the low 20s further inland, winds are light northwesterly.

High pressure building in from the northwest will give us a mostly sunny day, temperatures will be cooler than yesterday only reaching the low to mid 40s, winds will be a little brisk making it feel cooler.

Dry weather should persist on Monday with continued cool temperatures.

Still watching for potential storm development for Tuesday and Wednesday.  Models now are indicating two seperate low pressure waves offshore with a weaker low on Tuesday but possibly a stronger low pressure on Wednesday.   Still questions on how it will affect our area, at the present time models have both systems well enough offshore with minimal impacts, but there is a chance the second wave comes closer to the coast giving our area heavier snow and gusty winds.

Dry with continued below normal temperatures Thursday through Saturday.

Models indicate another wave possibly giving our area rain or snow next Sunday.

Have a nice day!

Mostly sunny today with lighter winds and not as cold! Dry weather with cool temperatures Sunday and Monday! Still watching for potential coastal storm Tuesday into Wednesday!

Good morning everyone!   Skies are mostly clear early this morning and temperatures are chilly with readings ranging from the mid 20s in the Clifton area down to the upper teens further inland, winds are a little gusty out of the west-northwest making it feel colder.

Today we will have plenty of sunshine as a weak high pressure builds into the area, temperatures will be a little milder than yesterday with less wind as the low pressure over Eastern Canada moves slowly away.

Dry weather will persist Sunday and Monday along with continued cool temperatures.

Latest computer models has the potential storm to be more offshore and south of the area to give us any major impacts.  Yesterday the GFS midday run showed up to 20 inches of snow for our area but the overnight run shows only a couple of inches of snow.  This is a complex situation and models are having a hard time analyzing the pockets of energy that will be moving toward our area.  So stay tuned for updates in the next couple of days.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Partly sunny, windy and chilly today! Dry and a little milder over the weekend! Coastal storm likely Tuesday night through Thursday!

Good morning!   Skies are mostly clear early this morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton to the mid 20s further inland, winds are light westerly.

A cold front will cross the area this morning no precipitation is expected with the front, the front will be followed by a strong northwest flow of cold air, wind gusts to 35 mph possible, wind chills will be in the 20s.

After a chilly night Saturday will be a mostly sunny day with lighter winds and temperatures a few degrees higher than today.

Dry weather with below normal temperatures should continue Sunday through early Tuesday.

A coastal storm is becoming more likely and should be a slow mover giving our area a good chance of snow mixed with rain at times.  The storm is still a few days away so it is too early to guess on precipitation types and amounts and depends on the track and strength of the storm.

The coastal nor’easter that gave us the snow yesterday is off the Maine coast and along with high pressure building from the west will cause a westerly flow of chilly air, there will be scattered snow showers in the area that may cause a dusting of snow especially inland.  Winds will be gusty out of the west.
