Good morning everyone!   Rain is falling early this morning with gusty northeast winds continuing.  Temperatures range from the upper 30s in Clifton down to some freezing temperatures in the higher elevations of northwest New Jersey where there is freezing rain and snow falling.

A strong low pressure system will be moving through the area today, rain ahead of a warm front will continue this morning with rain falling heavy at times along with a few rumbles of thunder.  The warm front with this system will move to our north with northeast winds becoming southerly bringing in milder temperatures.  The rain will taper off to showers this afternoon, winds will become westerly by this evening.

The storm will be north of us on Tuesday with a cyclonic flow of cool air.

Wednesday we should see more sunshine along with somewhat milder temperatures.

Another low pressure will move into our area on Thursday giving us some showers, well inland some of the showers may be mixed with snow.

Dry weather Friday through the weekend with temperatures seasonably cool.

 

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – APR 16 – Rain and breezy with rain heavy at times this morning along with isolated thunderstorms, rain tapering off to showers this afternoon, milder with highs in the low 60s.  A flash flood watch is in effect with 1-2 inches of additional rainfall possible.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers this evening, low in the upper 30s.

TUESDAY – APR 17 – Mostly cloudy and cool, high around 50.

WEDNESDAY – APR 18 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 50s.

THURSDAY – APR 19 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, high in the mid 50s.

FRIDAY – APR 20 – Partly sunny, high in the low 50s.

SATURDAY – APR 21 – Sunny, high near 60.

SUNDAY – APR 22 – Mostly sunny, high near 60.

 

MARINE FORECAST:  A gale warning is in effect until 5 p.m. this afternoon for northeast winds becoming southeast and gusting to 45 knots, seas 8-12 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft conditions likely for high seas on Tuesday; no advisories expected Wednesday and during the day on Thursday; possible small craft conditions again Thursday night into Friday.
