Not as hot and less humid today with plenty of sunshine! Dry with seasonably warm temperatures tomorrow into the weekend!


Good morning everyone!

It is another mild night across the area with temperatures ranging from the mid 70s in the Clifton area down to near 60 in some of the outlying spots, skies are mostly clear and there is a light northerly flow.

A weak cold front came through overnight and a light northerly flow of behind the front as high pressure builds into the area from the Great Lakes.  We will have plenty of sunshine today and becoming less humid, daytime highs will be about seven degrees lower than yesterday when the temperatures reached the middle 90s.

High pressure will be in control of weather tomorrow into the weekend providing the area with dry conditions and seasonably warm temperatures, humidity won’t be too bad with dew points mostly in the 50s.

Warmer on Sunday into next week and gradually becoming more humid, the best chance of any rain during the next several days will be next Tuesday as a weak cold front approaches the area.

TROPICS:  Chris became a hurricane yesterday and now has top winds of 105 mph,  Chris is located about 300 miles east of Cape Hatteras and is moving further out to sea.  The only affects will be higher seas and moderate chance of rip currents along our coast.

Today will be a hot day with plenty of sunshine, the humidity will rise but not be as oppressive as last week as we will have dew points in the upper 60s.  There is a low chance of and evening shower or thunderstorm that will be more likely to our north and west.

Pleasant summer weather Wednesday through Friday as high pressure builds into the area, dew points will drop to the 50s so it will be quite comfortable.

Quite warm over the weekend with slowly increasing humidity, most of the area will stay dry with only a slight chance of an afternoon or evening thunderstorm mainly inland.

TROPICS:    Tropical Storm Chris is located off the Carolina coast and is starting to move slowly northeast.  Top winds are 70 mph.  Chris is expected to become a hurricane but remain well offshore to affect our weather except to bring higher seas to our coastal areas.

Skies are mostly clear early this morning and temperatures are a couple of degrees milder than this time yesterday with readings ranging from the low 60s in the Clifton area down to the low 50s in some spots further inland, winds are mainly calm.

High pressure will be moving offshore and a southwest flow of warmer air, there will be plenty of sunshine again today and humidity will still be on the lower side.

Hot on Tuesday with increasing humidity but it won’t be as uncomfortable as last week’s heat wave as dew points will only rise to the mid to upper 60s instead of the mid 70s.  A weak cold front will cross the area at night giving us a chance of a shower.

Dry weather with seasonably warm temperatures Wednesday through Friday with comfortable humidity.

Looking ahead to next weekend it appears now that the weather will remain dry with continued seasonably warm temperatures and a slight increase in humidity.

A chilly start across the area as temperatures have dipped down to the upper 50s in the Clifton area down to some upper 40s in some of our outlying areas, skies are mostly clear and the winds are mainly light or calm.

Strong high pressure will continue to give us plenty of sunshine today with high temperatures about five degrees higher than that was recorded on Saturday.  Dew points will be in the comfortable 50s.

Warmer Monday and Tuesday as the high pressure moves offshore.  Plenty of sunshine both days, humidity will only slowly rise.

Some showers possible Tuesday night as a weak front passes through the area.

Dry and seasonably warm temperatures with moderate humidity Wednesday through the beginning of next weekend.

Skies are mostly clear early this morning and we have very pleasant temperatures ranging from the low 60s in the Clifton area down to low 50s further inland, winds are light northerly and the humidity is low.

Finally a break in the heat and humidity this weekend as a strong high pressure builds into our area.  Temperatures will be slightly below normal today and near normal on Sunday.  Humidity will be quite low today with dew points in the 40s only rising slightly into the 50s on Sunday.

Dry weather with a warming trend Monday and Tuesday as temperatures reach to near 90 both days, humidity will slowly rise but not be as oppressive as the past several days.

A weak cold front may touch off some showers on Wednesday and this front will cause a tropical depression off the North Carolina coast to stay well enough offshore.

Dry weather returns for the end of the week with near normal temperatures.

Another warm and muggy early morning and there are some thunderstorms in parts of the area, temperatures range from the upper 70s in the Clifton area down to around 70 further inland, winds are light southerly and the humidity is quite high with dew points in the 70s.

A front will move offshore this afternoon preceded by showers and thunderstorms that should end by early this afternoon and follow by much less humid air.   Today’s high temperature will only reach the middle 80s and should end our streak of seven straight days of 90+ readings.

High pressure will build into the region from the Great Lakes bringing in cooler and much drier air by tonight.

This weekend will be a very pleasant summer weekend with plenty of sunshine both days along with low humidity and comfortable temperatures.

Warmer and a little more humid early next week.

A front may give us some showers and thunderstorms late Wednesday into Thursday.

Another muggy early morning across the area under mostly cloudy to cloudy skies, temperatures range from the mid 70s in the Clifton area down to the upper 60s further inland, winds are mainly calm and the humidity is very high.    Yesterday 0.57 inches of rain fell in an afternoon thunderstorm.

Continued very warm and humid today as temperatures climb well up into the 80s and with dew points in the oppressive 70s will bring heat indexes to above 95 degrees, a heat advisory continues in effect.   The day should be dry except for a chance of a late day thunderstorm to our north and west.

A cold front approaching from the west will cause showers and thunderstorms from late tonight into early Friday afternoon, rain may be heavy at times.   The front will cross the area Friday afternoon followed by much cooler and drier air by Friday night.

The weekend weather will be very pleasant with plenty of sunshine both days and with comfortable temperatures and humidity.

Mainly dry conditions with a gradual increase in heat and humidity next week  although the heat and humidity should not be as intense as the last several days.  The only chance of rain will be from a weak disturbance Tuesday afternoon.

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this 4th of July and it is again warm and very muggy with temperatures ranging from the mid 70s in the Clifton area down to around 70 further inland, winds are calm and the humidity is very high.

Today we will have mostly cloudy skies and it will continue to be very humid with dew points remaining in the oppressive 70s.   Temperatures with the clouds and a light onshore wind will be about five degrees lower than yesterday.  There is a low chance of  an afternoon shower or thunderstorm mainly inland.  Any showers should end by this evening so fireworks viewing will not be affected.

Thursday it will stay very humid with warm temperatures but we should stay dry.

A front will cause showers and thunderstorms on Friday with heavy rain likely.

High pressure building in from the northwest will give our area a very nice weekend with pleasant temperatures and much less humidity.

Dry weather will continue into early next week with seasonably warm temperatures and only moderate humidity levels.

We will have our 5th day of the heatwave today but high temperatures will be a couple of degrees lower than yesterday but the humidity will be higher with dew points in the oppressive low to mid 70s.  A weak disturbance will give us a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm.

Quite warm and humid tomorrow and on Thursday but we should remain dry.

A cold front will cross the area on Friday with showers and thunderstorms likely.

The cold front will be followed by a much cooler and drier air mass for the weekend.

Skies are mostly clear early this morning but some inland area has patchy fog, temperatures once again are warm ranging from the mid 70s in the Clifton area down to the mid 60s further inland, the winds are light southwesterly.

A very strong ridge of high pressure over the area will give us mostly sunny skies today with very hot tempertures, high temperatures will again reach the upper 90s and with dew points around 70 will cause the heat index to rise to near 105 degrees, an excessive heat warning continues in effect.

A little less hot the rest of this week but it will stay humid with dew points at or above 70 degrees.

A cold front is expected to cross the area late Friday night and will be associated with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

After some early showers on Saturday the rest of the weekend looks to be dry and with cooler temperatures and much less humidity.

JUNE 2018 CLIFTON’S WEATHER SUMMARY!

June averaged 71.6 degrees which was about 1.5 degrees above normal   Highest temperature was 95 degrees set on the 18th and 30th,  the lowest temperature was 50 recorded on the 4th.   Precipitation was below normal with 2.63 inches falling and was the driest June since 1999.
