Warm and very humid today with scattered showers and thunderstorms! Humidity and a chance of showers continue Thursday through Saturday!


Good morning everyone!

Skies are cloudy across the region early this morning and there are some showers to our south and west,  temperatures range from the low 70s in Clifton to the mid 60s in some areas further inland,  the humidity is high with dew points around 70…

A warm front will cause some shower and thunderstorm activity this morning, after the front it will become warm and very humid with dew points in the oppressive low to mid 70s.  Skies will be mostly cloudy throughout the day and there will be some more scattered shower activity this afternoon and evening, some of the storms may be accompanied by heavy rain and strong gusty winds especially inland.

Quite warm and very humid weather will continue tomorrow through at least Saturday with a continued threat of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms each day.  A strong high pressure will be offshore as a weakening cold front approaches from the west.

Less of a chance of shower activity Sunday through early next week and with more sunshine it will become hot and the humidity will remain high..

 

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – AUG 1 – Mostly cloudy with showers and possibly a thunderstorm this morning then chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, humid, highs in the mid 80s.  Some storms may be accompanied by heavy rain and strong gusty winds.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms this evening,  some storms may contain heavy rain and strong gusty winds, humid, low in the mid 70s.

THURSDAY – AUG 2 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning then showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon, humid, high in the upper 80s.

FRIDAY – AUG 3 – Partly sunny in the morning then becoming mostly cloudy, humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high in the mid 80s.

SATURDAY – AUG 4 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, humid, high in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – AUG 5 – Mostly sunny and humid, high near 90.

MONDAY – AUG 6 – Partly sunny, hot and humid, high in the low 90s.

TUESDAY – AUG 7 – Partly sunny and humid, high near 90.

 

MARINE FORECAST:  A small craft advisory is posted effective from noon today until 6 p.m. Thursday evening for south-southwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas building to 4-6 feet.  Belmar’s ocean temperature is 76 degrees.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories possible Thursday night through Friday night;  no advisories expected Saturday and Sunday.
