Rain and mild today! Dry weather for the weekend! More rain on New Year’s Eve!


Good morning!

Light rain is falling across the area early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from the low 40s in Clifton down to the mid 30s further inland, winds are light from the south.

A low pressure system will give us rain which will be heaviest in the morning, tapering off in the afternoon and ending this evening. Southerly flow of mild air will cause temperatures to rise well up into the 50s. Rainfall amounts will average around 1 inch.

Dry weather for this weekend, Saturday will still be mild but colder air is expected for Sunday.

More rain again for New Year’s Eve as another low pressure area moves into the area.

Mainly dry weather the rest of next week with a cooling trend.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – DEC 28 – Rain and milder, high in the mid 50s.

TONIGHT – Rain ending in the evening then becoming partly cloudy, low in the mid 40s.

SATURDAY – DEC 29 – Mostly sunny and breezy, highs in the low 50s.

SUNDAY – DEC 30 – Mostly sunny and colder, high near 40.

MONDAY – DEC 31 – Mostly cloudy with rain likely by the afternoon, high in the upper 40s.

NEW YEAR’S DAY – JAN 1 – Mostly cloudy and mild, high in the upper 50s.

WEDNESDAY – JAN 2 – Mostly cloudy and colder, high near 40.

THURSDAY – JAN 3 – Mostly cloudy, high near 40.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – A gale warning is in effect until 9 p.m. tonight for southerly winds gusting to 35 knots, seas 7-10 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories expected for Saturday; no advisories expected Sunday through the day on Monday; small craft advisories again expected Monday night into Tuesday.
