Skies are cloudy early on this Thursday morning and there are some scattered showers in parts of the area, temperatures range from the low 70s in Clifton down to the upper 60s further inland. It is quite muggy with dew points mainly in the low 70s.

The remains of Tropical Cyclone Barry will move offshore today as a weak cold front approaches from the north which will cause cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms likely, temperatures with the clouds and precipitation will be only in the 80s, but the humidity will remain high with dew points in the 70s.

Excessive heat is likely Friday through the weekend with highs well up into the 90s and may hit 100 on Saturday, and with the humidity will cause the heat index to rise to 115. Mainly dry Friday and Saturday but a chance of thunderstorms Sunday night as a cold front approaches the area.

The front will slowly move to our south early next week with a chance of showers Monday. Highs will be in the 80s, the humidity will still be high on Monday but will lower Tuesday and Wednesday.

SUNDAY – JULY 21 – Mostly sunny, hot and humid, high in the upper 90s, chance of showers and thunderstorms at night.

MONDAY – JULY 22 – Partly sunny and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, not as hot, high in the upper 80s.

TUESDAY – JULY 23 – Mostly sunny, cooler and less humid, high in the low 80s.

WEDNESDAY – JULY 24 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Easterly winds to 6 knots, seas 1 foot. Point Pleasant Beach ocean temperatures is 71 degrees.
