Skies are cloudy on this last morning of 2019 and temperatures are above normal ranging from the mid 30s in Clifton down to 30 further inland, there is a light northerly wind.

The low pressure that was responsible for the rain and windy conditions with even a rumble of thunder is south of Long Island this morning and will be moving further offshore. After early overcast skies we should become mostly sunny, breezy and mild. Cloudy again tonight as a weak trough moves through the area which may produce snow flurries to our north and west. Temperatures at midnight will be in the mid 30s.

New Year’s Day with be mostly sunny, breezy and a little cooler as high pressure builds into the area.

Thursday looks to be milder as high pressure moves offshore and a southwest flow develops.

Quite mild with rain likely Friday into Saturday.

Clearing and cooler but still with slightly above normal temperatures Sunday into Monday.

FRIDAY – JAN 3 – Rain likely, high near 50.

SATURDAY – JAN 4 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the mid 50s.

SUNDAY – JAN 5 – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

MONDAY – JAN 6 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday evening for northwest winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 5-8 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Wednesday night through the Saturday morning; advisories possible Saturday afternoon and night.
