Some sunshine today with milder temperatures! Rain tonight into Friday morning! More rain on Saturday! Colder on Sunday with possibly some snow!


Good morning!

Skies are mostly fair early on this Thursday morning and it is colder than the last few morning with temperatures ranging from the upper 20s in Clifton down to the upper teens further inland, winds are light southwesterly.

After a few days of not much sunshine we will start the day today with sunny skies although we should see some increasing high clouds this afternoon, it will be milder with highs about 10 degrees warmer than yesterday. High pressure off the coast will give us a light southwest wind.

A low pressure area will give us rain late tonight into Friday morning but remain cloudy in the afternoon and night.

Another low pressure will give our area more rain Saturday into Saturday night.

Colder on Sunday with some snow possible in the morning that may give our area a dusting, further inland a couple of inches may accumulate.

Dry and seasonable cold on Monday but another area of low pressure will give us a chance of rain on Tuesday possibly changing to snow before ending Tuesday night.

TODAY – JAN 2 – Sunny this morning then increasing high clouds this afternoon, milder with highs near 50.

TONIGHT – Rain mainly after 10 p.m., low around 40.

FRIDAY – JAN 3 – Rain mainly before 10 a.m., cloudy with highs around 50.

SATURDAY – JAN 4 – Rain, high near 50.

SUNDAY – JAN 5 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain or snow in the morning, colder, high near 40.

MONDAY – JAN 6 – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

TUESDAY – JAN 7 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, high in the low 40s, rain and snow likely at night.

WEDNESDAY – JAN 8 – Partly sunny, high near 40.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Southwest wind to 9 knots, seas 1 foot.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Friday into the day on Saturday; possible small craft advisories Saturday night; small craft advisories expected on Sunday with some gale gusts.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE FOR DECEMBER 2019: Temperatures this December averaged slightly above normal. Highest temperature 59 on the 23rd, lowest temperature was 13 recorded on the 19th. Precipitation was above normal with 6.88 inches falling which made the month the 7th wettest since 1973. Snowfall was above normal with 9.3 inches accumulating mostly falling on the first 3 days of the month.
