Showers and thunderstorms today and becoming windy! Still windy and cooler on Friday! Mainly dry weather for the weekend!

Skies across the area are mostly cloudy and temperatures are mainly in the low to mid 40s, winds are calm or light southerly.

A strong cold front will cross the area this afternoon preceded and accompanied by showers and possibly a thunderstorm. After the front passes a strong westerly flow of cooler and drier air will move into the area, winds may gust to 45 mph and a wind advisory is in effect for our area.

Friday will be cooler and quite windy again as low pressure moves to the Canadian maritime region and high pressure builds from the west, temperatures will be cooler and there is a slight chance of rain showers that may be mixed with snow across the higher elevations to our north and west.

Mainly dry weather for the weekend but a storm system will give us rain late Sunday night into Monday. Temperatures will be a little below normal on Saturday and near normal on Easter.

The storm system on Monday will likely give our area heavy rain at times especially in the morning, rainfall amounts will be 1-2 inches. Milder temperatures are likely.

Still a chance of showers Tuesday and Wednesday with near normal temperatures.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – APR 9 – Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms developing, some storms may be accompanied by small hail and strong gusty winds, high in the low 60s. A wind advisory is in effect for wind gusts to 45 mph possible.

TONIGHT – Partly cloudy and breezy, low in the upper 30s.

FRIDAY – APR 10 – Sunny in the morning then increasing clouds in the afternoon, very windy and cooler, high in the low 50s, winds may again gust to 45 mph.

SATURDAY – APR 11 – Sunny with diminishing winds, high in the mid 50s.

EASTER SUNDAY – APR 12 – Increasing cloudiness, high in the low 60s, rain mainly after 9 p.m.

MONDAY – APR 13 – Rain possibly heavy at times mainly before 2 p.m., high in the upper 60s.

TUESDAY – APR 14 – Partly sunny with a chance of a shower, high near 60.

WEDNESDAY – APR 15 – Partly sunny with a chance of a shower, high in the upper 50s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect valid between 2 p.m. this afternoon through 6 a.m. Saturday morning for westerly winds gusting to 45 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories expected during the day on Saturday; no advisories expected Saturday night; advisories expected during the day on Sunday; possible gales Sunday night into Monday.
