Skies are partly cloudy early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from the mid 40s in Clifton down to the low 30s further inland, winds are light from the northwest.

A cold front will cross the area this morning with a low pressure forming on the front will cause skies to become cloudy by noon with rain likely mainly after 2 p.m. and continuing in the evening. As colder air wraps around the intensifying storm some of the precipitation will mix with or change to snow before ending shortly after midnight. Inland mainly across higher elevations of northwest New Jersey may pick up an inch of the white stuff and even some flurries may occur in our area. Rainfall amounts of .50 to .75″ likely. The latest snow has fallen was May 9th 1977.

Saturday will be an unseasonably cold and windy with a chance of some showers in the afternoon, the showers may be mixed with snow inland. Highs will only be around 50 but with winds gusting to 35 mph will produce wind chill values mainly in the 30s.

High pressure building into the area on Sunday will give us mostly sunny skies with somewhat milder temperatures and with less wind.

Another disturbance may touch of some showers on Monday.

Mainly dry Tuesday through the end of the week, temperatures will start off below normal but rise to near normal by the end of the week.

MONDAY – MAY 11 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high near 60.

TUESDAY – MAY 12 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 50s.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 13 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 60s.

THURSDAY – MAY 14 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 60s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Southeast winds to 10 knots, seas 1 foot. A small craft advisory will be in effect from 6 p.m tonight until 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

OUTLOOK – A gale warning is in effect from 6 a.m. Saturday morning until 2 a.m. Sunday morning; small craft conditions expected for high seas Sunday morning through early Tuesday; no advisories expected during the day on Tuesday.
