Tropical Storm Fay to give our area torrential rain later this morning into this evening along with some gusty winds! Quite warm and humid with showers likely on Saturday! Still warm and humid on Sunday with only a chance of showers!


Good morning!

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Friday morning and once again it is warm and muggy with temperatures ranging from the low 70s in Clifton down to the upper 60s further inland. The humidity is high with dew points up to the low 70s. The wind now is mainly calm.

The main story today will be the approach of Tropical Storm Fay that will be moving into our area today. Rain from this system will begin around 10 a.m. and become very heavy this afternoon and continue into this evening. Flash flooding is likely with rainfall totals of 2-4 inches with higher amounts possible. As the storm gets closer to our area we will have some briefly strong winds late this afternoon into this evening with gusts to 40 mph possible.

The storm will move into New England on Saturday but a low pressure trough in our area will likely give us showers and thunderstorms. With more sunshine it will become quite warm and humid.

Quite warm and humid again on Sunday but with only a chance of some scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Quite warm to hot most of next week with somewhat lower humidity. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday but at this point Wednesday and Thursday look to be dry.

TODAY – JULY 10 – Becoming cloudy with rain developing around 10 a.m. Rain becoming very heavy at times with a chance of thunderstorms, high near 80.

TONIGHT – Cloudy with heavy rain in the evening with tropical storm winds possible, muggy with low in the low 70s.

SATURDAY – JULY 11 – Partly sunny with showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening, humid, highs in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – JULY 12 – Mostly sunny with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, humid, high in the low 90s.

MONDAY – JULY 13 – Partly sunny with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, high near 90.

TUESDAY – JULY 14 – Mostly sunny with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, high in the upper 80s.

WEDNESDAY – JULY 15 – Mostly sunny, high near 90.

THURSDAY – JULY 16 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 90s.

MARINE FORECAST: A tropical storm warning is in effect! Winds southwest and increasing to 30-40 knots, seas increasing to 5-8 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories possible Saturday through Monday; no advisories expected for Tuesday.
