Mostly sunny, hot and humid today! Coastal low to give us rain possibly heavy on Friday! Very warm to hot with chance of showers and thunderstorms over the weekend!


Good morning!

Skies are mostly clear early on this Thursday morning and temperature are mild with readings ranging from the low 70s in Clifton down to the upper 60s further inland. The winds are mainly calm and the humidity is high with some patchy fog in some inland areas.

Yesterday in Clifton we only had a trace of rain while some areas in upper Bergen County had over two inches of rain while Newark had over an inch.

Today will be a quieter day with mostly sunny skies, it will continue to be very warm and humid but we should stay dry.

A coastal low that may develop into Tropical Storm Fay will move into the area tomorrow with rain heavy at times beginning in the morning and lasting into the evening. Winds will not be that strong in our area but some gusty winds are possible along the coast. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are likely with possibly higher amounts.

The weekend will be quite warm to hot with showers and thunderstorms likely on Saturday and a lesser chance of showers on Sunday, it will continue to be humid.

Continued very warm to hot weather into the middle of next week with showers and thunderstorms possible Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

FRIDAY – JULY 10 – Cloudy with rain and a chance of thunderstorms, rain may be heavy at times, high near 80. Rainfall amounts of one to two inches with higher amounts posible.

SATURDAY – JULY 11 – Partly sunny and humid with showers and thunderstorms likely mainly in the afternoon and evening, high near 90.

SUNDAY – JULY 12 – Mostly sunny and humid with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, high in the low 90s.

MONDAY – JULY 13 – Partly sunny and humid with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, high near 90.

TUESDAY – JULY 14 – Partly sunny and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high in the upper 80s.

WEDNESDAY – JULY 15 – Mostly sunny and a little less humid, high near 90.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Southeast winds to 10 knots, seas 2 feet. Point Pleasant Beach’s ocean temperature is 75 degrees.

OUTLOOK – A small craft advisory has been posted effective between 4 a.m Friday morning until 6 p.m. Friday evening: no advisories expected Saturday through Monday.
