High pressure over the area will give us another nice day for the end of meteorological summer with partly sunny skies and continued low humidity. High temperatures will be slightly below normal.

High pressure will be moving off the coast on Tuesday and Wednesday with a warm front slowly approaching our area from the south. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers both days with the humidity gradually rising.

The warm front will be north of our area on Thursday and we will have quite warm and humid conditions again with a chance of showers.

Quite warm and humid again on Friday but a cold front will cross the area during the day possibly accompanied by more showers and followed by less humid air by Friday night.

At this point the Labor Day weekend’s weather looks to be very pleasant with seasonably warm temperatures and low humidity.

Yesterday only .07″ of rain fell in Clifton when my forecast expected an inch or more but the remains of Tropical Cyclone Laura went to our south with some parts of southern New Jersey received close to 5 inches of rain. Also the thunderstorms that were expected in the evening with the cold front weakened as it moved through.

Very pleasant late summer weather is expected today and on Monday with mostly sunny skies with comfortable temperatures and humidity as high pressure builds into our area. West winds may be a little brisk in the afternoon.

A slow moving warm front will approach our area that may cause showers Tuesday and Wednesday with a slow increase in humidity.

Thursday will be warm and humid but should stay dry.

Friday a cold front may cause some showers, temperatures and humidity will remain on the high side.

At this point the Labor Day weekend looks to be pleasant with little or no rain.

The remains of Tropical Cyclone Laura along with a cold front approaching from the west will cause showers and thunderstorms today. Rain may be heavy at times along with the possibility of some strong thunderstorms this afternoon. Temperatures with the clouds and precipitation will be lower than the last few days but the humidity will be high. Rainfall amounts of an inch is likely with higher amounts possible in some of the stronger storms.

High pressure will build behind the cold front on Sunday and we will enjoy sunny weather with much lower humidity and temperatures near seasonable levels.

During the day on Monday the weather will be pleasant but a warm front slowly approaching may touch off some showers late at night.

There will be a chance of showers Tuesday through Friday as the warm front moves to our north on Wednesday followed by a cold front on Friday. Temperatures will be near seasonable Tuesday and Wednesday but rise to above normal readings along with an increase in humidity Thursday and Friday.

Today will be another warm and humid day with a chance of showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon and this evening. The day will start off mostly sunny but we should see an increase in clouds this afternoon. Temperatures will be slightly lower than yesterday and there will be less wind.

The remains of Tropical Cyclone Laura will combine with a strong cold front to give us showers and thunderstorms on Saturday with some heavy downpours possible. With more clouds high temperatures will be lower but it will continue to be humid.

Cooler and much less humid conditions could be expected Sunday through Tuesday with no rain expected.

Warmer and more humid air is expected Wednesday and Thursday along with chances of showers.

NOTE: In 2011 Hurricane Irene caused massive flooding in our area with 9.27″ of rain falling on August 27th into the 28th.

A warm front will move to our north this morning accompanied by some showers. Much warmer and humid air will move into the area along with some sunshine during the day. Severe thunderstorms are possible mainly between 5-9 p.m., some storms may be accompanied by heavy rain, strong damaging winds, large hail and even an isolated tornado.

Friday will continue to be quite warm and humid with a lower chance of some afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

The remains of Hurricane Laura which came ashore a few hours ago as a catagory 4 hurricane in western Louisiana will weaken as it passes south of our area on Saturday. Rain from this system along with a cold front approaching may be heavy at times. It will continue to be warm and humid.

Much cooler and drier air is expected Sunday into early next week as high pressure builds into our area.
