Skies are cloudy early on this Thursday morning and there are some showers in the area, temperatures range from the upper 60s in Clifton to near 60 further inland, winds are mainly calm.

NOTE: In 2011 Hurricane Irene caused massive flooding in our area with 9.27″ of rain falling on August 27th into the 28th.

A warm front will move to our north this morning accompanied by some showers. Much warmer and humid air will move into the area along with some sunshine during the day. Severe thunderstorms are possible mainly between 5-9 p.m., some storms may be accompanied by heavy rain, strong damaging winds, large hail and even an isolated tornado.

Friday will continue to be quite warm and humid with a lower chance of some afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

The remains of Hurricane Laura which came ashore a few hours ago as a catagory 4 hurricane in western Louisiana will weaken as it passes south of our area on Saturday. Rain from this system along with a cold front approaching may be heavy at times. It will continue to be warm and humid.

Much cooler and drier air is expected Sunday into early next week as high pressure builds into our area.

TODAY – AUG 27 – Showers this morning then becoming mostly sunny, hot and humid with a chance of thunderstorms late this afternoon, some storms may be accompanied by strong damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain, high in the low 90s.,

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy and muggy with a showers and thunderstorms likely before 9 p.m., some storms may be severe with damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain, becoming partly cloudy after midnight, low in the low 70s.

FRIDAY – AUG 28 – Mostly sunny, quite warm and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high near 90.

SATURDAY – AUG 29 – Mostly cloudy with showers likely, humid, rain may be heavy at times, high in the mid 80s.

SUNDAY – AUG 30 – Chance of early morning showers then becoming mostly sunny, cooler and less humid, high near 80.

MONDAY – AUG 31 – Sunny, high in the upper 70s.

TUESDAY – SEP 1 – Partly sunny in the morning then becoming mostly cloudy, high in the upper 70s.

WEDNESDAY – SEP 2 – Partly sunny, high in the low 80s.
