Tropical Storm Isaias expected to track just to our west today! Tropical downpours along with damaging winds and even a chance of small tornadoes this afternoon and early evening! Much quieter weather tomorrow through the weekend!

Skies are cloudy early this morning and there are some showers and imbedded thunderstorms in the area. Temperatures range from the low 70s in Clifton down to the upper 60s further inland, winds now are mainly calm and the humidity is high. Here in Clifton we received .66 of rain since midnight.

Isaias came ashore near the North and South Carolina border late last night as a 85 mph hurricane, now it has weakened slightly to a strong tropical storm with top winds of 70 mph as it is now located near the North Carolina and Virginia border. Isaias is expected to track just to our west today putting our region in the dangerous eastern section of the storm. Most of the flooding rains will be over western parts of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania although we will still have occasional tropical downpours. Our area will likely have damaging winds and even a chance of some small tornadoes. The worst part of the storm will be between late this morning into early this evening. Rainfall in our area will be around 1-3 inches with 4-6″ to our west. Winds will gust to near hurricane force at times which will cause considerable damage to trees and power lines. Winds and rain will diminish by late tonight.

Wednesday will be a nice summer day with seasonably warm temperatures and moderate humidity along with mostly sunny skies.

Most of the rest of this week into the weekend will be seasonably warm with moderate humidity. There is a low chance of some afternoon and evening showers Friday and Saturday.

TODAY – AUG 4 – Tropical storm conditions! Cloudy with rain heavy at times. Damaging winds to 70 mph this afternoon, high in the upper 70s. Flash flood watch in effect. Rainfall amounts 1-3 inches.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms in the evening with damaging winds possible in the early evening, becoming partly cloudy after midnight, low in the upper 60s.

WEDNESDAY – AUG 5 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

THURSDAY – AUG 6 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 80s.

FRIDAY – AUG 7 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, high in the low 80s.

SATURDAY – AUG 8 – Partly sunny with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, high in the mid 80s.

SUNDAY – AUG 9 – Sunny, high in the upper 80s.

MONDAY – AUG 10 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: Tropical storm conditions. Winds southerly gusting to near hurricane force, seas 12-18 feet. Point Pleasant Beach’s ocean temperature is 78 degrees.

OUTLOOK – Possible advisories for high seas Wednesday morning otherwise no advisories expected Wednesday afternoon through Saturday.
