Rain is falling across the area early on this last day of 2020, temperatures range from the low 40s in Clifton down to the mid 30s further inland, winds are from the southwest.

A cold front swinging through the area will pass offshore by this afternoon, light rain will end by late this morning and temperatures will be in the mid to upper 40s. Skies will become clear by this evening and temperatures should fall to the low 30s when the ball drops at midnight.

Conditions should be dry most of the daylight hours tomorrow but another storm system will give us rain possibly mixed with sleet at the start in the evening then change to plain rain. Some freezing rain may occur across the higher elevations well to our north and west.

The rain should end Saturday morning and it will become mild with highs in the 50s.

Another low pressure is expected to develop offshore on Sunday with rain likely Sunday afternoon and evening.

Mainly dry weather Monday through Wednesday with temperatures a little above normal.

TONIGHT – Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly clear, low in the mid 20s.

NEW YEAR’S DAY – Partly sunny in the morning then becoming mostly cloudy in the afternoon, high near 40. Rain at night possibly beginning as a mixture of sleet.

SATURDAY – JAN 2 – Mostly cloudy with rain likely in the morning then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon, mild with highs in the mid 50s.

SUNDAY – JAN 3 – Partly sunny in the morning then becoming cloudy in the afternoon with rain likely, high in the low 40s.

MONDAY – JAN 4 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

TUESDAY – JAN 5 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

WEDNESDAY – JAN 6 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. this afternoon for southwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 4-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – Possible small craft conditions on Friday through Monday.
