Skies are mostly cloudy to cloudy early on this Friday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 60 in Clifton down to 50 at High Point, winds are gusty out of the west-northwest.

Yesterday we had much less rain than expected with only mainly sprinkles falling here but heavier showers were across areas well to our north and west and also along the Jersey shore.

Today we should see clearing this morning and it will be mostly sunny, cooler and much less humid as low pressure moves to the Canadian Maritimes and high pressure builds in from the west. The pressure gradient between these systems will cause strong winds possibly gusting to 50 mph, especially this afternoon and this evening. A wind advisory is in effect and there may be some downed trees or tree limbs that can cause scattered power outages.

This weekend will be dry, temperatures will be cool on Saturday but become warmer on Sunday.

Unsettled weather is expected Monday through Wednesday with a good chance of showers. Temperatures will be above normal Monday and Tuesday and near normal on Wednesday.

Clearing with near normal temperatures is expected on Thursday.,

MONDAY – MAY 3 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 70s.

TUESDAY – MAY 4 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high in the upper 70s.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 5 – Mostly cloudy with a showers likely, high near 70.

THURSDAY – MAY 6 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 60s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect for westerly winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 4-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – A storm warning is in effect from 6 p.m. this evening until 6 a.m. Saturday morning; small craft advisories likely to continue Saturday morning; no advisories expected Saturday afternoon through Sunday night; possible advisories for Monday; no advisories expected for Tuesday.
