Mostly cloudy and not as warm today with showers likely! Very windy and cooler on Friday! Dry weekend likely, cool on Saturday, warmer on Sunday!

Skies are mostly cloudy to cloudy early on this Thursday morning and some showers are falling across parts of northwestern New Jersey. Temperatures are quite mild with readings mainly 55-60 across the area at 5 a.m.

Yesterday’s high of 89 degrees was the highest temperature in Clifton since last August 28th.

Low pressure moving to our north with a southwesterly flow of warm and humid air will continue today. Showers are likely with possibly some thunderstorms with the heaviest activity this afternoon into tonight. High temperatures with the clouds and rain will not be as high as yesterday with most highs in the 70s.

A strong cold front will cross the area after midnight tonight followed by a strong northwest flow of cooler and much drier air on Friday. Wind gusts to above 40 mph can be expected through Friday night.

The weekend should be dry, Saturday will be cool but it will become milder again on Sunday.

Warm and dry during the day on Monday but a slow moving cold front will give us a chance of showers Monday night through Wednesday.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, low in the upper 50s.

FRIDAY – APR 30 – Partly sunny and very windy with a chance of an afternoon shower, high in the upper 60s, possible winds gusts to 45 mph.

SATURDAY – MAY 1 – Sunny, breezy and cool, high in the mid 60s.

SUNDAY – MAY 2 – Partly sunny and milder, high in the upper 70s.

MONDAY – MAY 3 – Partly sunny, high near 80, chance of showers at night.

TUESDAY – MAY 4 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high near 80.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 5 – Partly sunny with a chance of an afternoon shower, high near 70.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Southerly winds to 10 knots, seas 3 feet.

OUTLOOK – A small craft advisory has been posted effective between 6 p.m. this evening until noon on Friday; a storm watch has been issued effective between noon on Friday until 8 a.m. on Saturday; no advisories expected Saturday afternoon through Monday.
