A weak area of high pressure will be moving through the area today but we should see more clouds and cooler temperatures as a weak onshore flow develops.

Despite mainly cloudy conditions on Saturday it will be slightly milder than today as the weak high pressure moves offshore and a southerly flow develops.

Showers are expected on Sunday as a frontal system moves into our area, temperatures however will continue to be slightly above normal.

Lingering showers are possible on Monday along with cooler temperatures.

Most of next week will be mainly dry with near seasonable temperatures.

High pressure over our area will give us another nice spring day today with plenty of sunshine, light winds and mild temperatures.

A low pressure system will move into our area on Sunday likely giving our area some showers, temperatures will be near or slightly above normal.

High pressure will continue the mild and dry weather today with mostly sunny skies and lighter winds than yesterday. The humidity will remain quite low and there is still a risk of some brush fires in our area.

Looks like the next chance of rain will be on Saturday with chances of precipitation continuing Sunday and Monday. Temperatures with clouds and an onshore wind will be closer to normal with highs averaging in the upper 50s to near 60.

Nice spring weather is expected to continue Tuesday through Thursday with mostly sunny skies each day. Winds will be lighter as the low offshore moves further east and high pressure builds into the area from the west.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR MARCH 2021!

This March was milder than normal with temperatures nearly 4 degrees above normal. Highest temperature was 81 on the 26th and the lowest was 19 degrees on the 2nd. Precipitation was below normal with 3.15″. From the 2nd to the 18th we had no measurable precipitation which was the longest dry period since 2015. After having record snowfall in February this month only had a trace of snow, it was the only the 8th time in the last 48 years that there was no measurable snowfall in March. This month also was quite windy with many days having gusts over 35 mph.

A cold front crossed our area early this morning followed by a strong northwest flow of cooler air. Most showers should end by 10 a.m. followed by some partial clearing this afternoon. Some of the showers this morning may fall as snow across the higher elevations of northwest New Jersey with a dusting of accumulation possible. Temperatures will remain nearly steady in the 40s, and winds gusting to 30 mph will make it feel colder.

Friday will be a partly sunny and cold day with slowly diminishing winds, most lows by tomorrow morning will be in the 20s while daytime highs will only be in the low 40s.
