Hot weather returns today with a chance of a late afternoon or evening strong thunderstorm! Continued very hot on Wednesday and a little more humid with possible late day showers and thunderstorms! Not as hot with rain likely Thursday into Friday!

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures are around 10 degrees warmer than this time yesterday with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 73 in Clifton down to 60 at Walpack. Winds are mainly calm or light southwesterly.

The holiday weekend is over and now the weather will become very hot again today with highs well up into the 90s, the humidity will be moderate with dew points in the 60s. There is a chance of strong thunderstorms from around 4 to 8 p.m., these storms may be accompanied by strong gusty winds and heavy rain.

Wednesday will be quite hot again and becoming somewhat more humid with dew points near 70. There will again be a chance of mainly late afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms.

A frontal system along with possible remains of Tropical Storm Elsa will likely cause rain Thursday into Friday. Temperatures will be lower but the humidity will remain high.

At this point the weekend looks to be seasonably warm but there a chance of showers on Sunday.

TONIGHT – Partly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely mainly before 8 p.m., some storms may be accompanied by strong gusty winds and heavy rain, low in the low 70s.

WEDNESDAY – JULY 7 – Partly sunny, quite hot and more humid with a chance of late afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms, high in the mid 90s.,

THURSDAY – JULY 8 – Partly sunny with rain likely with a chance of a thunderstorms, humid, high near 90.

FRIDAY – JULY 9 – Mostly cloudy and humid with rain likely, high in the mid 80s.

SATURDAY – JULY 10 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – JULY 11 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high in the low 80s.

MONDAY – JULY 12 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high in the mid 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 2 a.m. Wednesday morning for southwest winds to 25 knots, seas 3-5 feet. Point Pleasant Beach’s ocean temperature is 71 degrees.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Wednesday through the day on Thursday; possible advisories Thursday night into Friday as Tropical Storm Elsa moves offshore.
