Excessive heat and humidity to continue today and Friday with a chance of late afternoon and evening thunderstorms! Not as hot on Saturday with a continued chance of showers! Cooler with more comfortable humidity on Sunday!

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and temperatures range from 72 in Clifton down to 67 at Walpack. The humidity remains high and the winds are mainly calm or light southwesterly.

The Bermuda high pressure ridge will continue to pump very hot and humid air into our area today and Friday. Skies will be mostly sunny both days with highs well up into the 90s and with dew points in the 70s it will push the heat index to over 110 both days. A excessive heat warning is in effect for today which will probably extend into Friday. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms late in the day and evening today and especially on Friday.

A cold front will cross the area sometime on Saturday and it will not be as hot. There will be a chance of showers during the day followed by much less humid air at night.

Sunday should be a very nice late summer day with pleasant temperatures and humidity along with plenty of sunshine.

Near seasonable temperatures early next week but after a mostly sunny and dry day on Monday there will be another chance of showers Tuesday and Wednesday with a slow increase in humidity.

SATURDAY – AUG 14 – Partly sunny, not as hot but remaining humid with a chance of showers, high in the upper 80s. Becoming less humid at night.

SUNDAY – AUG 15 – Mostly sunny and less humid, high in the low 80s.

MONDAY – AUG 16 – Partly sunny, high in the low 80s.

TUESDAY – AUG 17 – Partly sunny with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, high in the mid 80s.

WEDNESDAY – AUG 18 – Partly sunny with a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, high in the mid 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – South-southwest winds to 10 knots, seas 2 feet. Point Pleasant Beach’s ocean temperature is 73 degrees.
